I just kill the unlucky ones who come into my home and fly around my head all day and night. WACK! Sorry, hope that didn't offend you.

We kill flies because they are a sign of filth.
Being an annoyance started carrying the death penalty when Bush decided to invade Iraq.

Well, if they are inside my house, I usually just catch them & take them outside.
That said, I think there is more to flies than just being an annoyance. Taking into consideration that they breed in either a)carcasses or b)animal waste, it is a damn good bet that flies are instruments for disease.
In other words, it is either us or them.

Some religions believe that after a person dies the exiting soul inhabits the body of an insect during it's trans-migration to spiritual plains. That is the reason I kill flies. .....they might be hosting republicans.

On long boat trips, when the flies got bad in the cabin, we'd pull out a box of rubber bands and see how many we could nail. Even got a few deer flies - they're pretty tough to get, really fast. But they bite hard, so it's pretty satifying when ya get one!

Since the beginning of time. The desire to eliminate things that annoy us. When a person annoys you and you cannot get away from the circumstance, you have a desire to eliminate that person; one way or another.
When a person is stuck in marriage, with a partner who annoys them, well - that desire of elimination is probably there.
The reasons we don't kill people who annoy us:
1. Our sense of right and wrong
2. Our society
3. The laws of our society
4. The jails of our society
5. The fear of trying to kill a person. (Unlike the movies, there is an unbelievable "fear" threshold to cross before you can get yourself to kill another human.)
The fly has none of the above 5 protections.
Consequently, ......... SPLAT !

I consider killing flies self-defense. They are trying to bite me, eat my food, spread disease via dog poo to my food, etc.
I'm actually a little wishy-washy on flies...I still feel guilty in the rare instance that I do kill them.
Now mosquitoes...that's a whole different story!! They are trying to drink my blood!! They all need to die NOW!!

I don't kill flies. I capture them in a cup, slip a piece of paper under it and let them outside.
