YES (and especially if it is not ...just an ex.. a 5/250. the 5 is oxycodone and the 250 is ibuprofuen.)
So, if it is pure oxycodone then YES by far. Oxycodone has been compared to morphine, it is among the strongest narcotic pain pills) And because of it's potency and addictive qualities it has been abused as a street drug.
Oxyodone is a potent narcotic pain killer. It can be mixed with an OTC like ibuprofuen or it can be almost pure.
Lortab hardly holds a candle to the oxycodone
Talk to your dr, and let him know your feelings. If they put you on it follow dosing instructions carefully. And do not stop taking it without your dr's instruction. And if - your dr refuses to give you something else for pian since what you are on is not doing it. Find another dr and have your records transfered to him, and the new one will likely listen to you. After all, you are your best judge of pain!

They all come from the same family.....opiates. Lortab has 10 mg. of hydrocodone, and oxycodone is a little stronger, which may lead to addiction a little more. But it's all how you use them....if you are careful, and follow the doctor's advice, and don't pop them if not needed, you should be alright.

I'm not sure about oxycodone being more addictive then Lortab but I do know that oxycodone is Percecet. I had it after my back surgery and it can be addictive.

I don't know what Lortab is.. i'm in Australia and we dont have it here.
I can tell you though that Oxycodone is morphine in tablet form - therefore it is addictive and should be only taken as prescribed by a doctor. Ask your doctor if you need more info - be careful with these drugs..

Oxycodone has been described as the poor man's heroin. Never tried it but it must be awfully addictive. Lortab is hydrocodone. I think Oxycodone is worse, addiction-wise. It's also a triple-script drug.

oxycodone is pretty much the same as tylenol 3 or the drug in percoset-percodan. oxycontin is called the poor man's heroin. all these drugs are called opiates because they are varying forms of the opium drug. anytime drug is changed, it is accepted differently by the body. for instance, codiene, genetically altered is percodan and ones allergic to codiene can take percodan. any drug can become addictive, even aspirin. take it exactly as prescribed by your Dr. Lortab is sometimes alternative for codiene or morphine. many Dr.'s will tell you the codiene in oxycodone will convert to morphine in your system. the truth is they all revert back to opiates but sophisticated testing can tell exactly which drug was taken. many people have to take these drugs to get thru the day due to serious injuries. Even so Dr.s supervise these patients regularly as they are condered as form of addict. share your concerns with your Dr., take only drugs that are prescribed for you exactly as prescribed, never share them with anyone else and never take even aspirin from anyone else. hope this works for you.

Oxycodone, OxyContin, Percocet, Percodan.

It is a narcotic pain medication and highly addictive and often abused.

Short term use should be ok, but you should try stepping down milder pain medication as soon as you can.

Discuss your concerns with your surgeon and for possible alternatives.
