Boys at my school call almost every pretty girl hot or sexy or whatever! why do all guys have to use the word "hot" to describe girls? Why can't they use beautiful or pretty?

I say Beautiful and pretty... my pop and the rest of the men in my family tell me, that telling a girl she's hot is not as respectful as telling a girl she's beautiful or pretty.

I think you will just have to get used to whatever expressions are currently being used... the English language is constantly changing - to the point that, compared to the proper " English " you study in " English" class with Shakespeare etc., you, yourself, are only speaking 15% English ! -- and you are speaking less " English " each passing day... In 5 years from now, at College or Universiy, there will be new descriptors, and new vocabulary, and you can expect even these new words to be obsolete within another 5 years ...

Dont take offence !! Just be glad they aren't calling you a long list of other names I won't repeat here....

Chill, babe - go with the flow...

Well, beautiful implies some kind of attachment. Guys use "hot" or whatever as a term strictly describing the physical form... nothing else.

If that sort of thing bothers you, why in the world would you use sexiipnay as your nickname? Why define yourself by your looks? I don't blame you for being irritated when guys do this, but I am sure they intend it as a compliment and in the culture we live in, this may seem appropriate to them. You could gently guide the guys who are not truly Neanderthals, but more likely just unpolished, uneducated, well-intentioned young men. You could say sweetly..'I know you are trying to be nice, but that kind of embarrasses me, I like it so much more when a guy tells me I'm pretty or beautiful...or better yet SMART!' Be nice as you say it and who knows you may actually teach a few guys how they should really be acting around women.

Age factor, and not to be vulgar but guys that age have an upper and lower brain, the lower brain, of which immediately takes over the thinking process when arousal occurs while viewing lovely young ladies has a very limited vocabulary;) LOL

It's just the times. When I was younger we called pretty girls "foxy" But now that I am older I use "Pretty", "beautiful", "attractive" or "stunning" Trust me, they all are meant to be a compliment. You must be pretty or else they wouldn't say it.
So there you go, You're pretty!

Hope that makes you feel a little better.

Because the word "hot" is everywhere these days. Relax. Maybe wearing a bag over your head, and a potato sack will put and end to your problem with being referred to as hot.
Have a nice day!

Exactly, BOYS, boys just want nothing more than to impress their friends, Be patient, eventually you'll mature and end up with a man, who will call you beautiful.

don't get all worked up, if they say it to more that just you it's an empty word. they us other words when they actually mean it. the words beautiful and pretty are "uncool" word at that age. you'll know when they really want you to know how they feel.

depends on the age, maturity level, etc. Do you really believe your pretty, beautiful, hot? Not all guys are like those you are taalking about.
