i'm a college student battling the weight gain. thurs, fri, sat when we party i'm a beer drinker and i'll sometimes have up to 8 light beers a night which is still a ton of calories. what alcoholic beverage has very few calories and is inexpensive? i mean as much as i love beer and am a beer girl at heart it is starting to get bothersome that this weight is not coming off even with regular exercise and a good diet.

Alcohol has some 500 calories per 100 ml. Everything else comes from sugar.

All mixed sweet drinks have sugar. Beer has a lot (maltose). Believe or not tonic has most sugar of all the mixers. If you don't believe put a drop of tonic aside with a drop of any soft drink and let them dry, tonic will leave stickier residue.

I would drink long drinks with sugar free mixers like rum an coke (light) or gin, lemon and sprite (light) = Tom Collins I've even learned to drink whiskey soda. Red wine (not lambrusco or some sweet stuff) or dry white are always good choices.

Clear booze (liquor) and red wine.
Beer has a certain type of sugar in it called "maltos". It is the worst cause of weight gain. So even if it has less calories, it stays with you.
I have the same problem...only I like white wine.
I am trying to switch to vodka rocks, splash of lime.
Good luck.

A lot of times it is the mixers that have a lot of sugar and calories. All sodas and tonics have a lot of sugar. I believe clear liquors have less calories. You can always try a low carb beer like Michelob Ultra, and I think Budweiser Select is similar.

Alcohol isn't really good for a diet even if it is low in calories but if you drink vodka or rum with diet soda or sugar free juice that is very low cal.

Try Shandy. Ten percent beer, 90% sprite. You might just like the taste of it.
BUT dont forget that most weight gain is due to beer snacks, like peanuts and chips.

Start smoking (or if you have concerns about lung disease, vaporize or eat edible) weed instead. You'll laugh a lot more and then you can just stand around with a diet coke -- of course the munchies have a way of rearing their ugly head... ;-)

If you must drink...then go for rum and diet coke. Or if beer is your choice go for Michelobe light or Corona Light with a lime....yum!
