This is the Naitional Breed Club credited by the AKC. They work nationally on rescues and rehomes for their breed..

If someone could be an excellent home but has a fixed income, most rescues will work with you on the adoption costs (which are usually $150 -250 for the small and mid-size breeds since they arrive with all shots updated and neutered/spayed))

Do give serious thought to adopting from an adult from a breed rescue. The clubs' breed rescues go to a great deal of trouble to determine the dog's temperment, personality, likes and dislikes (particularly kids and cats and other dogs in the household), health, and level of training. They make a huge effort to match the right dog to the right home - and if they don't have one they think will be suitable for your home, they won't place it. Great way to avoid the puppy training, newpapers, chewing.......They have dogs that are purebred and part-bred (1/2 or so of their breed.)

By the way, you'll notice that all the Yorkie breeders who are members of the Natioanl Breed CLub have agreed to the code of wthics whihc says they will NOT breed dwarfs, micro or minis or teacups because of the increased health problems for such puppies which result in chronic problems or death. Guess the poster above isn't a member of the National Breed Club which sets the standards for the breed.

"The YTCA’s Code of Ethics precludes the use of the words “teacup”, “tiny specialists”, doll faced, or similar terminology by its members, and for good reason.
.
All breeders may occasionally have an unusually small Yorkie (hopefully healthy), though no responsible breeder breeds for this trait. Many breeders prefer a general weight range of 4-7 four pounds believing that size retains desired Toy qualities while maintaining optimum health. The Yorkie Standard states weight
"must not exceed seven pounds" and as a prospective pet owner you should realize that even at 7 pounds, the Yorkie is still a small dog. (Females weighing less than 5 pounds are considered by most breeders to be unsuitable for breeding.)
.
Special circumstances often come with extra tiny dogs. They are extremely susceptible to both hereditary and non-hereditary health problems, including birth defects that may go undetected for a long time. Other common problems may include, but are not limited to, diarrhea, vomiting, along with extra and expensive tests prior to routine teeth cleanings and surgeries.
Small ones are more likely to have poor reactions to anesthesia and die from it. Tiny dogs are more easily injured by falls, being stepped on and being attacked by other dogs. These health problems nearly always result in large veterinary bills. "
.
Hmm.. want a healthy puppy with health guarantees?? Use a reliable breeder who is a member of a the breed club - invariably they all give such things.

Sorry but the going price for a female is about $1000. If you get a "runt" which is smaller, it's anywhere from $1200 to $2500. there are people charging up to $4000. for micro female. So, if you are on a fixed income, think of getting another toy breed, or a mixed breed. I have pups that are going to be ready for Christmas, and I'm going to get $1000 for the boys, and $1200 and up, for the girls. they are top quality pets.
