The Jews and Catholics were the first and probably most accurate. When your learning anything use your own common sense, and study it very well so you know the truth.
It's a waste of time to assume or just believe something because everyone else does, do it for yourself alone.

The bible tells us to learn from studying the bible.
Yes there is alot of false religions out there. Alot of false teachings.
Some people go to church and celebrate birthdays yet the two times that the bible talks of such a thing both times the person was beheaded.
People celebrate Christmas and everyone knows that it originated as a pagan holiday.
People divorce and remarry and the bible says God HATES a divorcing except on account of adultery and even then if you can find a forgiveness its better.People think its okay to kill in the name of war but the bible says not to take up arms against a brother .Do not murder.
I could go on but what I,ll do is tell you to research and pray that you find the Truth.
Heres a web site that you really need to read and learn from-don,t be afraid of the Truth.

There are so many beliefs about God and Jesus (and other things) because people have decided to drift away from the truth that comes from the Bible. For instance: "m_a_fouda" said that God forgave Adam of his sins. There is nowhere in the Bible that says Adam was forgiven. In reality, the Bible, at Gen. 3:19, says this about the sentence imposed on Adam for his disobedience: "For dust you are and to dust you will return." Does that sound like God was forgiving a deliberate sinner? No. Christ came to die for Adam's offspring, not for Adam.

If everybody went by what the Bible says about God and Jesus, there would be only ONE belief. For example: Some people believe Jesus is God. If he is, why did he tell his enemies at John 10:36 that he was God's son? If Jesus is God, who is the mediator BETWEEN God and men? See 1 Tim.2:5. If Jesus is God the Son, where does it say that in the Bible? If God is a trinity, what verse in the Bible does it explicitly say he is made up of three co-equal, co-eternal persons?

So the reason people have such varied concepts of God is because they prefer to believe lies instead of the truth from the Bible.

Sean has it right...be either Jewish or Catholic. Catholics are Christian. If you were a "Christian" before 1054 - you were a Catholic - check your history books. For the first 1000 years of Christianity, Catholicism was "It." Other than heresies, etc. that flared up and were stamped out, etc. The thought of "translating/interpreting" the Bible as an individual did not exist before 1517 - it was left to the Church which is how it should be. Individuals, without the knowledge of Hebrew, Greek, the writing styles of the prophets and apostles cannot translate/interpret Scripture correctly even if claiming they are "inspired" of the Holy Spirit - otherwise, they'd all come up with the exact same interpretation. The Holy Spirit does NOT have "varying opinions" on what God Himself wrote. But humans do and that explains the over 20,000 different Protestant denominations we have today...none of them can agree on what the Bible says.

Man corrupted christianity, that is why there are so many different takes on the religion. people stopped worrying about how to be saved (so to say)and instead wanted to argue about church rules and church doctorine (both man made ideas). The Bible is the key to understanding the faith, a little history background would probably do you well to. Just remember that the fact that you want to know, that you want to believe, shows that there is hope that you are going down the right path. Just follow your heart and listen to closely. You will know the truth.

GOOD FOR YOU - you want to know the truth!!! That's the best position to be in.

Yes, there are so many perspectives of the one religion - Christianity. My suggestion to you to is to get to know the Shepherd's Voice. How often do you pray? Keep in mind that hearing about the Word from man while it is good may also have that man's own added morsels. What you want to do is go straight to the source. Jesus is the source. Seek Him privately. He will answer in the perfect moment. He'll speak to you through the Holy Spirit - will guide you, teach you personally. AND SEEK HIM WITH A PASSION! DON'T STOP UNTIL YOU ARE FULL!

Bless your heart for taking such a mature step in seeking truth. May God bless and protect you, guide and direct you, keep and fill you to overflowing. You are special!

Amen!

First of all, God doesn't hate you. He is love. He created love. So He loves you. Yes there are many different beliefs. But the bible says there is only one Gospel, one Truth, One GOD. Not many Gods or many truths. There can only be one truth. The only way you are going to find it is to trust God. First, you have to call on Him. He will not abandon anyone who wants to truly know Him and the truth. Jesus is the doorway. It is through Him that you will receive eternal life; by believing in your heart that His son died for you personally on the cross and rose again in order for you to be forgiven. It is a free gift, you don't have to do anything but believe and then follow His voice and and His written word. He is the one who will give you wisdom. The very fact that you are even desperate to know the truth and are asking questions is because God has placed that desire in your heart so that you will cry out to Him to know the truth. If you ask Him and call on Him, He will show you. Many people are going to tell you many different things. It's okay to hear what they say, but investigate it. Ask God daily and He will eventually send someone to you who knows the truth and can show you. I will pray that He sends someone soon.

The reason there are so many different ideas about God and/or Jesus is that people love to float their opinions, that is why this yahoo question site is so popular.

When it comes to God and Jesus, get the truth, go to the source and ask God to give you understanding. The Bible contains the truth about God and Jesus. The Bible is God's communication to us for understanding Him. Read the key to understanding, read Joshua 1:8 it is the 6th book of the Bible.

Get the truth from the Master Himself, and ignore the opinions of those who don't know!

Time to get on my soapbox, this is going to be long...
The reason why there are so many denominations is that with over 2,000 years of Christianity, one person says a verse means X while another says the same verse means Y. There are people who get an idea in their head, refuse to be proved wrong (even by scripture) and take a bunch of people with them to start a new church with a new preacher that will teach what they think is right. All you can do is use scripture to prove scripture and that takes a lot of time, study and fervent prayer. Use the tools; a Bible dictionary, a Bible concordance, commentaries written from different people, and read study aids/books. You have to saturate your mind with God's Word in order to have the knowledge to recognize false teaching when you hear it. Understand that the Bible does not contradict itself, therefore many "doctrines" are really just man's interpretation and how they are being led by God and has no bearing whatsoever on a person's salvation. Under the new convenant we fall under the doctrine of Grace, not Mosaic Law, yet some denominations pick and choose Old Testament "rules" and say we still have to do this or that...Many of these things are only what you should do if you truly feel led and convicted by the Holy Spirit about. Under Grace our new commandment is to "love one another as I (Jesus) have loved you." Sounds simple, right? You don't murder or steal from someone you love. You don't cheat on a spouse that you love, you don't worship idols if you love Jehovah God and so on. Christ fulfilled the Mosaic Law completely so we don't have to, and gave us this new, all-encompassing commandment. It's a simple commandment but not always easy to do, its hard to love someone who hurts you, especially if they do it intentionally. I'm rambling now. E-mail me if you want, I'd love to go on....(BTW, I'm a mom to several teens who love the Lord), Anyway, meditate on these verses in whatever version of the Bible you use.
2Titus 2:15
Matthew 24:11
Matthew 24:24
2Corinthians 11:13
Galatians 2:4
2Peter 2:1
Acts 17:11
And my personal favorite on this subject:
1John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits to see if they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (WARNING - WARNING-WARNING!!!)

EDIT:
I just saw your additions and heres what I got:
God is a spirit - Joh 4:24 God is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.
Although He is always referred to as the Father (male)

Jesus is God - John 10:30 I and the Father are one! also
John 17:21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe that You have sent Me.

Jesus was Jewish - Mat 2:23 And he came and lived in a city called Nazareth, so that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, "He shall be called a Nazarene."
Christians are followers of the Christ, whatever their ancestery

God is all Good - Psalm 143:10 Teach me to do Your will; for You are my God; Your Spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

Jesus will save us - Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me.

Armeggeddon is real - Rev 16:16 And he gathered them into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. (Final battle of the Tribulation)

The old testament has books taken from it - This is complicated and would require much more space than I have here

God loves me - there are 310 references to love - hows this one? 1John 4:19 We love Him because He first loved us (note the word FIRST)

I should fear God - what we fear is God's judgement and wrath
Luke 12:5 But I will warn you of whom you shall fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yea, I say to you, fear Him.
In our daily lives:
2Titus 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

jumping off the soapbox now...

There are so many differing beliefs, because there are so many of us on the planet. You need to find the truth that speaks to you. What out of yoru experience has proven to be true? Dealing with the life of Jesus and the Bible is a matter of human interpretation, from that of the original authors, all of whom did not agree themselves on the details, to our modern interpretations as readers today.

I understand your confusion. I am 14 as well and go to a Catholic highschool and I don't belive in the weird masses and such. Just know this...in the Bible it says "we are temples of God's spirit". Just know that God is in your heart. Love him like your parents because he is so. If you pray for guidance, God will help you (you just need to look around for his anwser). Don't think I'm a super religious person; I just don't like Chritians to lose their faith. Good Luck!
