If you haven't done anything to rid the fleas from your house at the time you used these, you aren't killing all of the fleas and they are just re-infesting your kitten. You need to get something (spray, fogger, carpet powder, etc) to put in your house, vacuum thoroughly, then place the frontline or advantage on your kitten.

If you bathed your kitten 3 days before or 3 days after you treated her, the oil didn't get properly absorbed. Even though Frontline is waterproof, you can't bathe them 3 days before or after the treatment because the oil has to be able to absorb through the skin to properly work. Also, for severe infestation Frontline won't work properly if you bathe your kitty too often after the 3 day period (even though its waterproof).

You can try another product called Revolution. It works pretty good for fleas and also helps prevent ear mites.

Hope this helps and good luck ridding your kitty and house of fleas.

*BTW* No matter what you hear, please don't give your kitten garlic. This can cause a fatal disease called either "Hemolytic Anemia" or "Heinz-Body Anemia". It causes your kitty's body to break down her red blood cells and will eventually lead to death.

Use a small amount of flea shampoo and warm water. Make sure the room isn't drafty and is warm. Dry her good with a towel then use a flea comb. Repeat in a week and then in another week. I know cats don't like baths but baths don't cause anemia like fleas do. Dixie did just fine with a flea bath at 3 weeks old. She was infested and the Frontline didn't work. Holding Kitty by the scruff of the neck (like her mom did) while you're bathing her will kick in a natural instinct not to squirm so much. Don't dangle her. Dont' forget to spray her bedding with flea spray. Keep her away from the bed for a few hours after you spray.

Although it is possible you have hit some resistant fleas, the first thing to consider is that frontline and advantage have to be applied monthly. Have you beein doing that like clockwork? If you let it go until you see more fleas, then that would explain the reason your kittens are getting re-infested. Another thing to be careful about is that you apply them according to the directions, and you can't just apply it to the fur. You need to get someone to help you hold the cat so that you can part the fur and apply the medication directly to the skin. If you apply it just to the surface fur, it will wipe off on anything the cat rolls on and not do the long term job.

Good luck.

Talk to your vet. There are other alternatives now. While frontline and advantage have worked in the past, unfortunately fleas are building up a resistance to the chemicals in it.

Revolution is good and there are now some others as well.

Good luck!

You may need to have your house treated. Also, try a capstar before you put the advantage on, and it might help. Sometimes flees are really hard to get rid of. One thing that I would not try is flee baths. They have pesticides in them that could be harmful for kittens.

The vet should have a spray called Ovatrol that you can use much more often than the monthly Frontline or whatever . . . and you rub it into their skin/hair. Works like dynamite.

You also need to treat the inside of the house. You can buy sprays or bombs from Walmart or even your vets office. Just be sure to keep your kitten away from it until directions on product says. If your kitten goes outside, you will have to treat your yard also.
