I've also seen some passengers bring in a garment bag with a suit and the steward will hang it up in the front of the plane, Do you think I can get away with a carryon plus a garment bag?

Most airlines will let you bring a garment bag and a small carry-on/rollaboard suitcase but you will not be allowed another item like a purse or laptop. Also do not count on being able to hang the garment bag up. The hanging compartment at the front of the plane is reserved for first-class passengers. Flight attendants will allow other passengers to hang a garment bag there if space is available but you can't count on it. If the flight is very full, you might end up being asked to stow the garment bag under your seat if the overheads are full so pack accordingly.

The FAA is strict on carry on items, be sure they are with in size regulations. One MUST fit under the seat in front of you and the other in the over head compartment. Unless you are sitting in first class that has a closet, hanging bags must be put in the over head. Flight attendants are not supposed to store anything in their closets anymore, this is and has been a FAA regulation for many years. If caught, as the other person stated, it is a finable offense that the airline as well as the passenger will have to pay in upwards of $10,000-$20,000 per passenger, per offense.

Check the TSA website for packing restrictions and how to pack toiltries. Keep the bags small and with in weight and dimension requirements. Carry on's may not be any larger than 22"x14"x9" and less than 40lb. And again, one MUST go under the seat in front of you while the other is over head. If the flight is full, this is an important rule to abide by. Too many carry ons in the over head will cause others to not have space and they will have to gate check bags which will delay the flight.

Yes that is allowed - if there is room the flight attendant will hang up the garment bag - if no room, don't worry - putting it in the overhead compartment also works well - really.

Please log onto tsa.gov to see what liquids, gels, etc are allowed - this is very important for a female as she has more stuff, i.e. make-up, etc. Each passenger is allowed only ONE QUART SIZED ZIP LOCK BAG with the liquids, gels, etc. I made the mistake of putting the stuff in a 1 gal zip lock and the items were taken away at a huge cost to me - had to buy all new make-up, etc at my destination. Good Luck :)

No way. You can bring a purse, briefcase or small backpack PLUS 1 other carryon bag that fits in the measuring device (when you check in). Best bet is to fit your clothes into only one carry-on type bag. By the way, garment bags are lame - if you put your suit or nice clothes in a dry-cleaner type plastic bag (when you get dry cleaning back) - it will prevent them from wrinkling if you place them in a small 'wheelie' carry-on bag.

As Charlie suggested, no one cares. I shuttle with 5 prescriptions, some pills, some injectable, so I somewhat have a group of needles and different injection paraphernalia. No TSA man or woman has appeared two times any any of those issues or requested me about them. convey them on your keep on bag. If the checked bags is going lacking, even for an afternoon or 2, you received't have those pills.
