So many Christians get so hung up on this speaking in tongues issue. The issue was dead for 1900 years, then someone opened a can of worms and started teaching that its a gift we all should have. The Pentecostal religion was born, and now people think its more important to utter words that in all honesty, no one can understand, then speaking words that many understand. Paul taught well on this subject and we would be wise to listen to the Bible instead of all those people and preachers, that want you convinced that you need to speak in tongues to prove you are religious or spiritual. What about the fruit of the Spirit, lets hear more about that and less about uttering words that mean nothing to anyone accept the speaker who thinks he is riding high. There are so many Spiritual gifts and it is very sad that people focus on something that will accomplish nothing. After all, Jesus walked this earth and NEVER spoke in tongues!!!

Yes friend you have hit the proverbial nail on the head!

There is NO record whatsoever in the Bible that the Christ spoke in tongues yet there is ample proof that the phenomenon did exist and manifest itself.

Now what they (A/G) and those councils/cults of the same ilk have done have made that manifestation a basis of "EXCLUSIVITY"!

No babbling, no gibberish no membership in our Club..how sad!

But the Assemblies of God and all the Pentecostals base their whole theology on this point.

YWAM (Youth With A Mission) on the opther hand with it's totally dynastic pharonic like rules of succession in selcting thwir leadership and strange doctrine of "Cultural Christianity" emnbraces everything from cannibalism to polygamy if it is in a cultural context.

YWAM has an all inclusive clause tounges or no tounges.
we'll send you out to confuse/evangelize the world anyway!

The great Apostle Paul spoke on this as well and warned that those who would observe such a manifestation would conclude those "Speaking in Tongues" were mad or worse!

This manifestation is encouraged and actually monitored by the Pentecostals to see if indeed when in the throes of an emotional "Praise session" the babbling and spewing out is indeed a bonafide heavenly Language...ugh the insanity of it
all !!

And the Great Apostle Paul said, "Though I speak with the tongues of Angels but have not charity, I am as a cymbal and a sounding brass when struck, noise only!

Judging from the Benny Hin's of the world with their Rolex watches and $32,000 a day Hotel Suite entourage expenses
while on Crusades and their 3.5 million dollar homes, i.e. TD Jakes and the rest makes one want to heave...at the hypocrisy!

Ask them, "if the Christ owned his own clothes" and watch them squirm! Hypocrisy and Vanity, "Vainty vanity all is vanity,Solomon so said!

At Pentecost everyone heard the disciples in their own language. Jesus traveled and either spoke in tongues so that everyone heard Him in there own language or was able to speak many languages. The bible doesn't say either way but it does say that he did more miracles than can be written, tongues may have been a part of some of them. People will debate tongues until the day we go home and be with the Lord than we'll no longer have to speculate, we'll know fully instead of in part.

Speaking in tongues is real. And Jesus did not give it too his people thru the Holy Spirit until after he died on the cross.

You can bash it all you want. But it's real. Otherwise there is no purpose in having it in the Bible. Just because it was not worded as tongues like you want to think doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Just like the word Bible is not in the Holy Bible. Yet we ALL still call it a Bible.

Very well query. I do not know, however I've heard a few humans say that Jesus used the phrases, "I AM" that is a solemn title of God, found out within the Old Testament. Prior to this, in Chapter 17, Jesus is praying to the Father and one of the crucial matters He stated was once "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son..." So might be the consideration was once commencing to appear, and the energy of His title is what triggered them to fall. Some evangelical church buildings name this being "slain within the Spirit." What has continuously surprised me was once that Peter struck one of the crucial guards, and reduce off his ear, and Jesus healed him proper then and there as He was once being arrested. Truly mighty that humans did not see Him for who He was once... however then, He was once born for that cause, to die for the sin of the sector. So I bet in a way, humans's non secular eyes have been protected from realizing an excessive amount of, which might have stopped God's cause and plan from unfolding... which might have left us all with no as far back as Him.

Jesus had no reason to speak in Tongues, it was a gift to the disciples so that during pass-over they could go out among the thousands of people and preach His word and each person in the crowd would hear and understand in their own language.

Jesus didn't ride in an automobile either??The unbelievers always accuse us of just obeying what we want. Are these some of the verses that you want out of the Bible?

1Co 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
1Co 14:4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

It is not recorded. The charismatics are the ones who get hung up on this, not the pentecostals. They are looking at the glitz, and not the god.
