He would not have a good reason? Why were you not using a condom? If you are that concerned about this you should not be having unprotected sex. You are opening yourself up to so many risks. He is a jerk if he did what he did on purpose, but you need to be a lot more careful than this. If you were having sex with him and he did not pull out in time... how could you not tell?

Sometimes guys like being able to c*m inside a girl because it gives them power, just like the whole on the boobs or face thing (yeah.... pretty gross) I think this alone would give him a reason to not tell you, because you would obviously be mad about it. There is no reason he couldn't have done it in time.
Also, a thing to keep in mind is pulling out is not very effective at all because you can get pregnant from pre-ejaculate.
