ooo, i like the one, its acutally interesting because there are two creation stories in Genisis. The first one (Genisis 1:1- 2:4) says that animals were made first and humans were made second, "In the beginning when God created. . . let the earth brng forth living creatures of every kind. . . Let us make human kind". This is also interesting because the narrator says "Let us make humankind" implying that there is more than one entity creating. This is because the hebrew word Elohim which is used in the original text denotes multiple gods.
The second one (Genisis 2:5-24) says that humans were made first and animals second, "In the day that the Lord made the earth and the heavens, when no plant of the field was yet in the earth. . . and there was no one to til the ground. . . then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground. . . so out of the ground the Lord God formed every animal of the field, and every animal of the air".
Check it out in your bible. The reason there are two different creation stories is because the bible is a compilation of three different sources, one from Judea, one from Isreal and one priestly source. So both stories are in the bible, that doesnt mean that either are "correct". These are stories that we use to understand ourselves. Nameing, and speaking are very important- in the beginning there was the word and the word was God. God breathes into clay thus making it into a human being. Breath and the soul are very important in this verse, etc.
Look at the bible as literature instead of the word of god and you learn some things that you miss otherwise.

One thing that is never mentioned in discussions as this one, it is; there is a verse in scripture stating.... "one moment is as a thousand years" (in eternity). This may be worth considering when applying it to genesis and the creation.. could those days be only symbols indicating an age or period of time? Sure would solve many things getting ridiculed and debated.
As far as the question is concerned; is it really of any importance????
As far as the evolutionists are concerned, perhaps you can slow them down by asking them a simple question.... If everything has arisen from the primordial soup, why were the animals from the oldest recorded findings so large..??? Then continued to become smaller until what we see today.

I think everything came at the same time. Just because Moses wrote in terms the people could understand at the time, and in a literary style you never took in high school and can't possibly understand, doesn't mean it's not true.
"For my part, when I received those taking part in your academy's plenary assembly on October 31, 1992, I had the opportunity with regard to Galileo to draw attention to the need of a rigorous hermeneutic for the correct interpretation of the inspired word. It is necessary to determine the proper sense of Scripture, while avoiding any unwarranted interpretations that make it say what it does not intend to say. In order to delineate the field of their own study, the exegete and the theologian must keep informed about the results achieved by the natural sciences ...

Animals came first, then Adam, then Adam named all the animals.
God made animals to be companions for man, but, then decided to make Eve.
