I was given an old plaque, it is black with a brass dove on it and the letters "PAX", I am assuming this is "Peace"? On the back is a label probably where it was made, this is what I would like translated, it is a little worn and difficult to read but it appears to read like this: "Uecho Por Los Monjes De Cuernavaca", (under this there is another mark with symbols on it and the word Mexico, that is why I am assuming it is from Mexico, maybe a mission?) Thanks for any help!

I stand corrected, I actually realized that Spanish was the language of Mexico, I was probably just looking at the words in front of me on the plaque and not giving the wording of my question enough thought. I appreciate those who have given nice informative answers. (I agree I am ignorant on many subjects, as I guess would be true of some others as well)

The others´ translation is correct , just to clarify Cuernavaca is in the state of Morelos Mexico, about an hour and a half from Mexico City, There is where Hernan Cortez the conquistador had his estate ( hacienda)

Mexican isn't a language it's a form of Spanish. But your translation means: Made by the nuns of Cuernavaca. As for the front of your plaque, could it possibly say PAZ? That does mean peace. Pax could be a form of old Latin though.

Ok, but there's no language called "Mexican". Mexicans speak Spanish. Your plaque's inscription means: Made by the monks of Cuernavaca". And Cuernavaca is a city in Mexico.
PAX means PEACE in latin, not Spanish.

That means "Made by the monks of Cuernavaca." And Pax does mean peace.

Castellano is what most people refer to when they say spanish language. i.e., Catalan, Basco, Gallego...are other spanish languages. Of course different parts of the world speak spanish with differents accents, different expressions....pending of the background culture and history influence... Same as the way the Brits, the Americans, Australians... I guess where ever the Brits at one time or an other set foot on other nations...or spaniards....and other people who went to other lands... the rest is history....
