i never seen a Muslim obsessed with the 72 virgin fiasco!!
it's non muslims who are obviously obsessed with this subject who keep repeating the same question over and over and over again.
PS: there's no such thing as 72 virgin!!

I'm a Muslim and I've never heard about this 72 virgins thing until I joined Yahoo Answers. People who spread this DISGUSTING RUMOUR are just as stupid as people who BELIEVE it without doing their own independent study.
You have to admit the Western culture is not perfect, in fact I don't think any culture is perfect as they are man made. For example, pre-marital sex with many, many people is now accepted in Western culture even though Christianity does not condone this.
To the person above: Suicide bombers who think they will get virgins have truly contradicting beliefs. Suicide is a HUGE sin in Islam to begin with. Dying in the cause of Allah would mean dying while defending Islam or those who have been oppressed not just dying to get an easy entrance to heaven.
Nothing justifies the killing of innocent people. The actions of terrorists are political and religion is merely an excuse to justify their acts. The Qur'an has been abrogated to suit their own agendas.

Its actually one of those things that our Western admirerers have hooked onto and play back like a broken record. The 72 virgins is actually mentioned once or twice in the Qur'an, and is certainly not as central a point as some would like you to believe. However, because it is so "immoral" and shocking and completely contrary to what the Islamic world is seemingly so prudishly about, it stands out like a sore thumb.
Paradise is discribed a hundred different ways in the Qur'an and in the recorded saying of the Prophet. However, when there is a crazy psychopathic militant trying to manipulate a flock of potential insurgents, what better way to justify their chastity (so as to not be distracted from their mission) than with promises of women of light beckoning to them as often and whenever they'd like.
Look at the whole story, please. This isn't about flinging dirt. God knows there is waay more than enough on both the Christian and Muslim side to start.

If i'm not wrong,some suicide bombers were promised a place in heaven and the companionship of the virgins if they die for the cause of jihad or holy war by preachers who twisted the koran texts. But if you have sex in mind from the first place, you would have already gone against the fundamentals of Islam and muslims generally are not obsessed with the vigins or even sex.

Because their religion is not of God but stems from a pagan deity. Since their Qua ran was written by a mortal man the thinking that went into it smacks of man and how man thinks. The Bible differs in that men penned the scriptures as they were inspired by God's Holy Spirit.

You know, that's a great question! They think it's wrong for women to show any skin (literally, not even their faces) because it's lustful, or something, yet after they die they get to depurify 72 people? Hypocritical is what that is.

Islamic "heaven" turns out to be a sexual playground...not only do these "heroes" get 72 "houris"...specially made perpetual virgins, who can even bear children at will, and still retain their virginity...but they also get 24 boys who are "like pearls".
