I am 5'6 also and weigh 140. I was searching online a lot tonight on how to loose weight in the stomach area, and the best work out they said for that is crunches. Do about 50 of them along with cardio workout like jogging.
For your thighs I've read that the best exercise for that are lunges and squates.
Those are the two areas I'm concentrating on so it is the only thing I've really read about.
Try swimming. That works all areas of your body. Or even yoga.
Make sure you add cardio work-outs to your exercise plan.
Sorry that I'm not more of a help. I tried haha.
Good luck.

Talk with your parents to get their support ... I recently implemented a anti-oxidant juice, a healthy energy drink, and a simple and great weight loss plan into my life that has been extremely successful and has improved my health 100 times over. I have lost 2" in my waist line and I have also lost 20 pounds and all of this has been in only the last 26 days. I did not diet, eat special foods, skip meals, or even exercise. I continued to eat "normal foods" ... Pastor James ~ Tx

You are perfect the way you are. What I would give to be 140. I also am 5'6" and no were near 140, I think I look good. You are too young to be spending all your time and energy worrying about your weight. But if you really want to loose the weight, try eating the boxed diet microwave meals, they are balanced, healthy, cheap, and easy. Also get plenty of exercise (it's easy to get lazy in winter)
Good luck!

The best solution is a combination of exercise and cutback in carbs (pasta, breads and sweets).
Walk or jog a mile each day, extend to two miles within a month. (Hips and leg fat removal and muscle replacement).
20 sit ups, ncrease by 5 every day until you hit 100. (stomach and torso and thighs)
Press a weight (couple of books, etc) 10 times, increase by 5 every day.
Weight every day, within a week you'll see progress.
Good luck...you'll be amazed how well it goes.

It's nice that you wanna cut down fat but remember, you don't wanna get obsessed or anything. Try some excercises that allow you to use multiple body parts. Start out slow and don't over excersise. Seriously.
