I guess i mistakenly delete it or i don't know how come but i don't see by Start and when i right-click on the taskbar and choose Quick Launch, I still don't get it. Can you help?

omg i had the same problem and then i figured it out here are the steps to follow.
Open Notepad and enter the following text:
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
Save the new file as Show Desktop.scf then drag and drop the icon on the Quick Launch bar
Hope this helps cuz it worked great for me. and one thing: dont delete the Show Desktop.scf after draging the file into quick lauch cuz then it doesnt work.

Put the pointer in the lower left hand corner next to START...
Right click and select PROPERTIES...
Check SHOW QUICK LAUNCH.
You may have to delete some icons..it depends on what programs could be there (e.g. iTunes, MusicMatch, IE) but the desktop icon should show up.

I right-clicked my show desktop icon and here's what i found. it is located at this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
I guess next time you accidentally deleted it again you can search it at this folder and place it again in your desktop, then to your taskbar eventually.

another way to show and hide desktop....just right click on the desktop and select arrange icons by...show desktop...
