My daughter forgets almost everything. Brushing her teeth, removing plates after eating, books and wears in school and more other things. I do remember all these often and on for her. Is there a remedy?

Before you jump to conclusions about mental conditions (ADD, etc.), try correcting it. Positive reinforcement for a job well done, negative reinforcement when not. Neither of these should be huge, but they need to come often.

We use "Angel Sticks" in our house. If either of my kids does something really good, he gets an angel stick. And it may be something extremely basic that earns a rewards, at least for a little while.

They may get anything from 0 to maybe 4 in a day. Once they reach a certain number of sticks they get something else - maybe a $10 gift card to Toy 'r us, or Target, or whatever.

They never lose angel sticks if they do something wrong, but their can be other punishment, like a time out...

Children do not have good memories when it comes to doing chores.

There may be a remedy. Don't give her anything without her earning it. She gets a point for everything she does without someone reminding her. After she gets five points or so, she gets a dessert or some allowance.

Another idea is to make a list of the five or so chores that need to be remembered and five additional chores. For each chore that is forgotten, two must be done instead.

my daughter had the same problem. she's 12 now and much better. I pretty much had to remind her to do all her daily things, take a shower, brush her teeth, take her homework, etc. I took her to a psychatrist, and the guy told me to give her strattera and see how she performed with it (trial and error I guess).. she was on it for a couple of weeks in third grade and hated it because they made her tired. With age, she just got better. She is still very forgetful though, as I am. she's lost so many expensive things that I've bought her. i'm wondering now if it could be habit or genetics.

sounds normal for a 10yo to me. don't jump on the add bandwagon w/o a truly professional opinion.

Could be ADD rearing its ugly head.
