Nobody knows for sure. Some people who don't know the Bible will criticize it because to them, the Bible says the earth was created in 6 days. That is not what the Bible says. If only they would look closely in Genesis chapter 1:1, 2. There it says that the material universe, including the earth, was already in existence before that first "day" got started. Those 6 days were vast time periods that Jehovah used to prepare the earth for animal and human habitation. They were not 6 24-hour days.

the age depends on what you take as your source.

science says about 4 billion years this is from the age of the rocks etc.

priests etc doing calculations from the bible say about 6000 years.

the question is who do you beleive?
fundamentalist christians and muslims beleive that the bibal or the koran is the source of all knowledge that god wanted us to know. when things threaten that knowledge they call into question that new knowledge because it does not come from the bible or the koran. the new knowledge is seen as saying that the word of god can not be trusted.

I've seen that some people have said that the earth is around 5 billion years old. How can it be that old and the center is still hot? It's obvioulsy only a few thousand years old.

It's not to anyone with a brain. The Earth could be 7000 years old or it could be 10 billion years old.No matter what ,you go back as far as you want, and stick in a flag,Jesus will be there to meet you.He is the beginning and the end .The Alpha and the Omega.

It is threatening because for fundamentalists it contradicts their holy books. Why they think those books are correct is the more interesting question...

Any fool knows the correct answer is around 4 biliion years.

About 10000 years old

And it is not a threatening question to Christians, because no matter how old the earth is, it still doesn't prove that the bible is wrong.

The only one Who could tell you exactly how old the earth is would be the One Who created it...everyone else is just guessing.
