I bought an HP Scan Jet about 3 years ago and here recently every time I scan a picture lines show up on the scanned picture.....I cleaned the glass with Windex and it still didn't help it....is there anything else that could be wrong?

Try to download the latest driver from HP. It seems to me that your driver is outdated.

I know this is kind of dumb - but make sure you don't have a 'scanner lock' on..... look underneath and make sure there's not an electronic one....

One time I had garble everytime I scanned and I finally figured out the light was actually NOT moving up and down as someone locked my scanner on me.....!! DOH......

Also check your Driver (right mouse button click on my computer and go to preferances and you should see a Hardware tab)... Make sure there is no ? or ! next to your scanner - which would mean there's a problem with your driver.

are you using the document feeder when you get the line? if you try the flatbed and the line dissapears go for the windex again on the roler side of the scanner (the very edge).

Did you just upgraded to XP? XP does not like Older hardware and may br conflicting with OS.
