I have a DVD recorder. It is awesome. We put tapes of old movies and home videos into the VCR and record them onto DVDs, I record movies off of Starz and HBO with it. I think you can record a DVD with a copywrite on it if you put it in through the playstation. I love it. There is also Tivo! Where is where you can pause and rewind live television and that sort of thing. Also recordable, I believe. I got my DVD recorder at Walmart for less than $100, I don't remember the exact price... maybe around $80. The name of it is CyberHome.

Yes there are recordable DVD units now, as well as DVR/Tivo,

DVRs are electronic automated hard drive boxes that you get from your cable/satillite provider for a small monthly fee (our directv tivo costs $6 a month). They record your shows for you, you tell tell them what you like what shows to record every time it comes on, or you can tell it with usually a single button to reocrd a particular show for you. Most of them have over 50-70 hours of show storage.

I prefer Tivo, it's the same thing, it was the first, but it does things that other dvrs don't like learn what you like and record other shows you migh like as well. It's tres spiff. A stand alone tivo unit will work with ANY cable or satillite system, but there is a small monthly fee.

I would get a DVR, I dunno how often you want a actual hard copy, but you can always ald a recordable dvd later, they are getting cheaper every day. Prolly less than $100 soon.

Definitely go DVD Recorder. I bought one a couple of months ago for about $150 Cdn, and would never go back to VCR. The unit I got is a Toshiba Model D-RW2-S, and it rocks!
