BEIJING (Reuters) - Humans are stripping nature at an unprecedented rate and will need two planets' worth of natural resources every year by 2050 on current trends, the WWF conservation group said on Tuesday.

Populations of many species, from fish to mammals, had fallen by about a (THIRD) from 1970 to 2003 largely because of human threats such as pollution, clearing of forests and overfishing, the group also said in a two-yearly report.

"For more than 20 years we have exceeded the earth's ability to support a consumptive lifestyle that is unsustainable and we cannot afford to continue down this path," WWF Director-General James Leape said, launching the WWF's 2006 Living Planet Report.

About 8 years ago the Lord spoke to my spirit and told me to look up my redemption draweth nigh. That was 8 years ago, we are on the verge of Jesus coming to take us home.

How beautiful the world was in the beginning ,the world has become defiled ,unclean, unholy.I see a world that has gone totally out of control.Living just for day and not caring about the future at all.Not so long ago man could talk to the animals and loved all of Gods creation.I feel not well living in a world going to hell. The Great Spirit is not pleased at all on this passing day,it is a judgment call. 1 and half minutes to midnight.

Yes, the planet is in trouble, and we all need to do what we can to help.
Many Christians would say this is end of times, and that god gave us dominion over the planet so why worry. What an easy way out.
Of course Christians always take the easy way out.
