WHERE DID POTATOES ORIGINATE?
The potatoes originated in the Andes Mountains of Peru. The potato was planted more than 6,000 years ago. It was discovered by Pizarro and his Spanish in the early 1500's in Ecuador. They then brought potatoes to Spain, Italy and France. In the late 1500's potatoes were brought to England from South America.
