"Summary: Cracking your knuckles does not cause arthritis, but it may damage your hand in other ways"

You can read the whole page at the link below...basically the thought is that it does not cause arthritis, but damage can be done to the joints that may cause pain/discomfort down the road...

Try typing "knuckle crack arthritis" (no quotes) into your search engine, as I did, and see what else you may find...

When you crack your knuckles you are moving synovial fluid around the ends of your bones. It relieves pressure. Synovial fluid acts like a lubricant and if you displace enough of it, your bones can come into contact with each other briefly through the act of cracking your knuckles. Bone contact points are arthritis points, but you'd have to crack your knuckles a lot to even potentially cause a problem.

I actually asked my physical therapist about this recently and she told me that it is not a good idea to do it. I myself use to be a knuckle cracker for about 5 years and just recently it really started hurting my knuckles so I have been trying to stop. So I guess the choice is yours.

Not at all. The cracking is a release of gas in the joints same as when a chiropractor cracks your neck or back.

Depends. If you crack them all the time. Yes, you can but if you do it, once in a while than no.

No, it doesn't cause arthritis, but it certainly doesn't help anything.
