I clean house for a couple of raise champion german shephards. I do everything I can think of to make the place smell good. Thank goodness they don't have carpet. I mop with clorax and pinesol. It will smell good for a while, then it is back again the next day. These people are clean they just have to many dogs. But this is thier business.

Ok i dont have 11 but i have 3 dogs, and i have carpet. I really like using the new Febreze stuff for people with animals. About twice a week (prolly everyday in your case) i spray my couch & love seat, curtains, futon, and whatever else i feel the need to spray. I also use one of those new Glade (i think its Glade lol) light show air freshners b/c the smell travels throughout my house. I always ask my grandmother if it smells like dog when she comes over cuz she would be the one to tell me and she says that it doesnt so i must be doing something right

They have plug-in air fresheners for pet odors now. You could give those a try.

Try to encourage them to have the dogs groomed every month (or bathe them themselves, if they prefer). There is a shampoo available at www.ryanspet.com, called Desert Sudz Super Fresh shampoo, it keeps dogs smelling good for a LONG time. I'm a professional groomer and I love this stuff!

Another thing to check is the dog's stuff. Do they have crates in the house? Beds? Soft stuffed toys? Those things attract odors like mad. Try to wash any soft bedding or toys once a week with regular laundry detergent. If they have hard crates, wipe the crates with bleach-water every week.

Also, if they're given bones or rawhide to chew on, throw out the old stuff every couple weeks, those things get stinky too.

Good luck!

11 dogs is alot. They must be using the bathroom in the house for it to stink so bad that cleaning the house does not keep the smell away. You said they dont have carpet so the smell must be in the wood of the floors. There is nothing that can be done about that except to tear the floors up and replace them.I`ve been to a few friends houses that has a large amount of champion and also breeding dogs and their house does not smell.

If these people have a lot of cloth furniture, rugs, and the like, then it is almost impossible to clean, much less keep clean. Keep clean is impossible. Check with the larger pet shops for cleaning materials.

I have a modified shop vac which really sucks up fluids, hair, and dirt. It and proper chemicals work wonders on our rug. I modified my vac by redirecting the input flow to the bottom of the vac and having water at the bottom to catch the fluids, hair, dust, etc. Sometimes I run our cheap rug cleaner first to apply chemical cleaner and deorderizer. Then I vac up the rest of the fluids, etc. with my super vac.

In a few days the dogs have shed, etc. on the furniture, rugs, etc. and we are back to normal doggy smelling house.

Dogs are a lot of work!!!

If they're breeding dogs, no matter how clean, it may just be a matter of "lots of pooch for the space". Is there adequate ventilation?

For an odor-covering agent (that won't hurt the dogs), why not look in the ads in the back of a breeder's or dog fancy magazine?

I would open all the windows while you are cleaning. I would grind a lemon in the garbage disposal with the water running. I would place pans of kitty litter in places that are hidden, to absorb the odors while you aren't there. I would change these litter pans every time you clean.

Maybe because You are the cleaning lady you notice it more...dogs usaully don,t stick unless they are ill or are made to live in their feces..The owners may need to add Baking Soda to their bathwater it helps also vinegar, although it smells sour at first it netueralizes this oder or any type for that matter.

11 dogs is just too many! Check with city/county/state ordinances! This is not just their business, this could be a health hazard --- no offense to you, it sounds like you are working very hard to keep things clean. I would not want to live next door to these people!

dogs shouldnt have any smell there is something clearly wrong here... I am wondering what food the dogs are on?

I personally dont like FEBREEZE - becuase its made by Proctor and Gamble a company well known for preforming cruel animal testing.. any animal lover would NOT be happy to have you use it in their home
