Any good reasons? Because if you ask me, they all just seem to want to just be different from one another.
At least Martin Luther had valid points, but then he went a bit far.
The rest...well....

There are so many Protestant denominations because the unbiblical practices which form the foundation of their tradition - sola scriptura and private interpretation - guarantee widespread fragmentation. Anyone should have been able to predict that telling people, "the truth is whatever you think it is when you read the Bible" would open the floodgates to doctrinal chaos. And now we see that this is precisely what has happened.

Note that there are no denominations in Catholicism. Catholics do not try to design their own doctrine by self-interpretation of the Bible, even though it is a Catholic book. And Catholics adhere to biblical teaching by recognizing the Church Christ founded as "the pillar and foundation of truth", knowing that "whatsoever it binds upon earth is bound in heaven". Result: 2,000 years of unchanging doctrinal truth, unity of belief and unity of worship throughout the world and across twenty centuries, just as Christ said it must be. The Church He personally founded for all mankind remains "One, even as He and His heavenly Father are One", while manmade religion continues to disintegrate into more and more conflicting denominations almost daily. When the very essence of a tradition is plainly contrary to the stated will of God, one really can't expect anything more of that tradition.

Most Christian denominations differ on trivial points. Some, like Baptists, place particular emphasis on certain practices (like baptism), while others place emphasis on methods of spiritual growth (Methodism), while others place more emphasis on the type of church government (Roman Catholicism) or rituals (Greek Orthodox).

There is very little difference in beliefs between most Christian denominations, so the differences are mainly a matter of personal taste, or cultural preference. They are not different "religions". Some many take a more literal interpretation of the Bible than others, but they all read the Bible and accept it as true.

Some denominations, like the Mormons (Latter Day Saints) or the Jehovah's Witnesses, are so different that they are not normally regarded as Christian anymore by the other established churches. They have supplemented the Bible with their own works which they claim to be additional prophecies.

The reason why there are so many different protestant, Christian denominations (estimated to be at 30,000) is because of the idea of Sola Scriptura or "The Bible Alone"

Each of these "Bible based" churches form sets of beliefs based on *their* interpretation of the Bible and since there's no authority but the Bible alone to decide what's right, people will just break off and start another church than resolve the issue/belief at hand.

Hope that helps. God bless.

Plainly and simply. To cause confusion. That is the essence of Babylon. See the story of confusion of the languages at the tower of Babel. Satan knows that with so many religions, the true one will be hard to pick out. Some will despair and call all religion false. Others will stay in the religion of their parents because it is what is convenient. After all who says any other religion is more right. Others will declare that it doesn't matter what you believe as long as you have faith in God. Others will question the existence of God and why religion even needs to exist. In any case, Satan has won the victory.

The only way to pick out the correct religion is to study the Bible. Satan's lies can always be unmasked by the Word of Truth.

What does the Bible say about religion? The true religion will believe in God and in His Son, Jesus Christ. John states that anyone who denies Christ is antiChrist.

That rules out Islam, Jehovah's Witness, Mormons, Atheists, Agnostics, Aryans, Catholics, Voodoo, Witchcraft, and all eastern religions (Buddhists, Hindus, Janism etc.) There are many others that are ruled out, but I believe you get my point.

Jehovah's Witness and Mormons do not believe in the diety of Christ. Why is Catholicism on the list? Because Catholicism is a mixture of Christianity and Paganism. The system of the mass and confession to priests is a usurpation of the authority of Christ, who is our true High Priest. Once the real High Priest has come in the flesh there is no need to confess to sinful human priests. This is a denial of Christ, just as it would be if Jews were still sacrificing animals for the forgiveness of sins. In addition, Catholics teach that Christ did not have the same flesh that we have, a direct contradiction of Hebrews 2. They teach the doctrine of original sin, thus Christ had to have different flesh than we had so that he was not tainted with original sin. If Christ did not have the same flesh as his brethren, how could he call them brothers? This is another denial that Jesus came in the flesh, out sinful flesh.

The great apostasy that is the Catholic church was to reign 1260 years from 538-1798AD. The true church of God is described as the remnant. It arose after this period of persecution (Revelation 12:14-17) Thus, all churches that were formed before 1798 are not the true church. They all have some taint still of Catholicism in them. This rules out Baptist, Methodist, Episcopalians and all the great churches of the reformation.

The remnant church is a commandment keeping church. It keeps all 10 of the original 10 commandments as they were written down in stone by the finger of God. The new covenant writes this law of love on the hearts of God's people. The 10 commandments were kept in the ark of the covenant in the most holy place of the sanctuary. They are a copy of the original 10 Commandments that are housed in the true sanctuary in heaven where Jesus is advocating as our High Priest. They can not be changed else Jesus would not have had to die for the transgression of the law. There are only a few churches that keep all 10 of the commandments including the fourth one which commands us to worship on God's Sabbath which is Saturday. Wow, that really narrows down the list. All the Sunday keeping churches are ruled out.

The remnant church in end times will be a copy of the apostolic church in the times of Paul and Peter. It will be filled with the Holy Spirit and it will have the gifts of the Spirit. Sure enough, Peter and Paul were commandment keepers and Sabbath keepers. Remnant means last piece that is exactly like the first.

The remnant church will give a world wide appeal. It will have a world wide mission to spread the gospel. See Revelation 14:6-12

Lastly, the remnant church will have the testimony of Jesus Christ which is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 12:17, 19:10, 22:9 Thus, one would expect all the spiritual gifts to be in the remnant church including the gift of prophecy.

There is only one church that fits all these characteristics. It is the Seventh Day Adventist church, formed out of the Millerite movement following the great disappointment of 1844. The Seventh Day Adventist church is actively spreading the gospel in over 200 of the the 230 recognized nation on earth. They keep all 10 of the commandments. And they have a recognized prophet in Ellen White, who was called to the ministry at the tender age of 17. She is the most translated author ever, writing more than 100,000 pages of manuscripts that have been translated in more that 140 languages.

When Martin Luther broke away from the church, it motivated other people to do the same. But thay had like a month wait to talk to each other over long areas. so Thay started there own little Protestant religion and passed them down to every one thay knew. And then you had churches all over the place. Unless, for people who believe the bible, Jesus comes, thay will stay as many instead of one

I have been Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, and Now Attend a Calvary Chapel. They were all parts of the same body. They all believe in Jesus and his finished work on the cross. I do admit that the Catholics do some stuff I'm not to cool with, but it does not hinder someones salvation. There is different parts of the body of Christ. There are different denominations for equipping the different saints for the work of proclaiming the Gospel.
You asked and I answered :)

Nova girl,
Yes, there are many different churches with different ideals. They basically did the best they could when the great apostacy happened. When Christ was killed and his apostles, the church that HE established was gone, his authority was gone.

That is how Martin Luther and others began...their churches. THey used what portions they knew from the original church but not ALL of it. Including the Preisthood power that was here when Christ was here.

That is called the great apostacy.........

However, Christ said that he would restore his church again before the second coming. And he did.... the LDS church is his restored church again. Having the ordinances & preisthood to help you have eternal families , marriage and all the saving ordinaces to help you return to Father in Heaven again.

See the Mormons.. www.lds.org

I know they have the truth. I found it on my own. I was questioning how God would feel about all these different churches. They all teach different things!! Its totally confusing.. what does HE think of them all.

Good luck sister-

the foremost difefrences between mainstream Protestantism and Roman Cothalicism are a million) we don't evaluate the Pope and the Vatican to be every physique or something particular 2) the veneration of saints isn't practiced 3) we do no longer have faith interior the intercession of saints via fact we try to have a private direct dating with God. additionally the recent testomony says that Christ himself is the intercessor. 4) we basically know 2 sacraments extremely of 7; the two Jesus participated in - baptism and communion 5) You consume the bread AND drink the wine in the time of communion, despite the fact that if in lots of church homes juice is served extremely of fermeneted alcoholic wine. i think of how you prefer to worship God is between you and God. in case you establish to grow to be Protestant i wish that works for you. You wrote, "maximum of my united states are catholic..." I stay in Mexico that's predominantly Roman Catholic. So I honestly have been in Roman catholic church homes the place they talked badly approximately Protestants and in protestant church homes the place they talked badly approximately catholics. i wish you stumble on a church the place this would not take place. superb desires and Merry Christmas!

They are called protestants because they protested against the Holy Roman Catholic Church:
Thjey are still ptotesting against the Church they splintered off from or left by starting their own church.
That's the difference between islamic churches and Christian Church.
Christians can just change their membership to another church or start their own. Muslims would be killed for doing that.

I am not a Christian anymore, but if the bible is true and the word of God then Satan can disguise himself as a gospel preacher and preach a false doctrine to decieve people so they cannot beleive the truth.
