Funny, just yesterday I thought the exact same thing ...pondering the wonder of the sun through the clouds I started to say thank God when I realized this trivialized an awesome sight !why an Atheist like my self still says thank God is because I don't use phrases like thank your lucky stars, I suppose....

Certainly my religion doesn't. The glory and magesty of the universe are essential to my understanding of Deity.
My religion doesn't say that God created the world 6000 years ago in 6 days.
My religion states simply that "The Great Spirit stirred the void and brought forth all that is." That doesn't discount the Big Bang or Evolution or any other scientific wonder. It simply means that from the beginning of time, there was an intellligence in the universe.
Magic though, shouldn't be discounted. Look closely at quantum physics and you'll see that all sorts of wonders are possible, however unlikely. The world and the universe are full of magic, we just don't always recognize it.

A universe without god is not created by chance.. it grows and evolves through time into something that works. Take bats for example.. they fly and maneuver with ease yet have very poor eyesight. This is because it is safer and easier for them to be active at night when other predators and competitors are sleeping. They have no need for sight in the dark of night so they have over time compensated for their visual loss with an improved auditory sense. We see this with many other organisms.. which is what evolution explains. Life is not eternal because it requires an organism to pass its most successful genes to its offspring so that it may improve on them and pass them on again. Each generation that passes makes a small improvement on the genetic makeup of that particular species. At the end of an organism's life cycle it will die and return to the Earth it came from to be used to nurture the life of other organisms. Male pattern baldness is another adaptation to the world we live in, just as homo-erectus no longer has need of wisdom molars, appendix, tails, or a full body covered in hair.. we are also not dependent on a full head of hair.. especially not anymore since we've created hats : 0 P

Amen to that! :)
I'm an atheist with respect to the God of Abraham and every other god described by man. But I'm agnostic to the greater question of a creator. I don't think a supreme creator is likely, but if there is one, I think Bible believers are off on a wild goose chase. We should learn everything that we can possibly learn about the natural universe. If there is a creator, learning about its creation will give us real insight into the creator. Believing a collection of myths, some of which have been clearly proved to be wrong, is not a productive way to advance our knowledge of the universe and our place in it.

I don't believe it does. No matter how God created the magic - creating the big bang, creating apes who evolved into man, or anything else that can be considered creating the wonder of life, it is truly magical and wondrous.

Where did you ever get that the universe was created by God and he used magic to accomplish this.
I think you need to read the Bible and ponder over what you read and you will find that God never mentions using magic to create anything.

Actually, a major wonder of life is not believing we exist w/o a God. Questions such as this are what dumb down the true wonder of life.

Nope. It adds so much more wonder and beauty to it all. Evolutionists are trying to take away the wonder and beauty and are doing a good job of it for those who believe that hogwash.
