If it is something that can damage your relationship with your dad, then I think you should wait. A few more months isn't that big a deal. I can speak from experience that things go much smoother if you live by house rules. On the flip side, if the tat you're planning to get is tasteful and in a place that is easy to conceal, then just explain to him that this is your decision to make. If you want to do an adult thing like get a tattoo, then talk to him like an adult and you might be surprised by his reaction. Good luck either way and I hope you enjoy the artwork.

Where do you want it? It is someplace hideable? I say go for it if it's not in an area that he'll see unless you wear something revealing (although I don't know how revealing you would be around your dad). I mean if you're completely set on moving out and he sees it and kicks you out of the house, it's not like it would make a huge difference. I would love to get a tattoo so I know how you feel about wanting it done. Just consider that you might have to go to some wedding or formal event where you're going to be wearing a dress or something that reveals it; in which case, you're in trouble.
Good luck with that!

get it now i really dont think it would matter to ur dad if u get it now or a year after that he just wants u not to get it and he is trying to push it so that maybe u will see the next year that u wont want a tattoo but the way u have written it seems that if u wait u would be more likely to do it so it doesnt really matter when

i say get it by australian law your of age and can do what you want im not sure about where you live though.
i got my tattoo for the first time in around may then i got one in july and now the latest was 2 weeks ago. the point im trying to get at is i kick myself everyday that i didnt get mine sooner and the reason i didnt was because of my dad. i have 3 now and he only knows about 2 put it this way what he doesnt know wont hurt him.
a little word of advice find somewhere on your body that is fatty it will hurt less oh and by the way they are addictive if you havent noticed by the months that i gave you about mine.
good luck and go for it

If you'll feel upset getting it while you're still at home with your dad then wait because for at least a year, you'll be worrying about how to conceal it and what if he suspects and you'll appear guilty...bla bla bla.
But I say wait, because by then you may be at a different time in your life and want to get a different tattoo. And if you get it done now, they are addicting, you'll feel like you want another one and then your parents might notice so I say wait.

If you wait, you know that you'll still want to tattoo and it'll be better not having to hide from your dad. But even if you get it now, since you are 18, your dad probably will be able to get over it as long as you don't tattoo "wh0re" on your forehead.

I think you should wait because then everyone will be happy. Your mom wont care, your dad will be happy, and you still get what you want!

i think if that's what you really want you should go ahead and get it. trust me u may not want to upset your dad but, if he is not paying for it really should not matter because you are the one is will have to walk around with it on ur body for the rest of your life
