I'm planning on taking a two week trip to Germany to visit some family. My baby's father is not living with us but appears on my sons birthcertificate. The travel agent told me I would need a letter from the father gving me permission to leave the country with my son. Is this really necessary? We do have a passport for him.

I know this isn't exactly the same, but when I lived in the UK and traveled to the US (often) the airlines advised me to have a letter of this sort, signed by the father as a precautionary measure. I was asked for it only once.

You may take your children on vacation for 15 days .He can't say a word about it .As long as you are planning on bringing the little one home(USA) in that 15 day time frame.

yes, you need a letter of consent / permission that he is allowing ur baby to travel with you. so they won't suspect that you're kidnapping ur baby.

yes, or you will need some documentation proving you are to sole custodian for the baby, e.g birth certificate, court papers stating you are the legal guardian and not him
