Have you ever defragged or did a disk cleanup. If not you may not be able to fix it..
You may need to do a Disk Cleanup..
and be sure you have all the boxes checked....
Defrafg your C drive or what ever is your main
harddrive... Make sure you have selected the C
Drive.... This is called a Disk Defragmenter...
Go to : Start... programs.. accessories... system tools..
If that doesn help...
Try the System Restore which takes you back to a time when your computer was working good. Go To:
start
programs
accessories
systems tools
system restore
This process is completely reversable. And does not remove your personal files. Just go back one checkpoint at a time until your puter is working good again.
As a last resort you may need to use the computers destructive restore disks. Then be sure to defrag and keep your computer clean.. It doesnt matter how many games you use.. just keep the puter clean..

Well....??? Have you tried Disk Cleanup???? There is an option there to "remove all but last restore point". Those restore points take up a ton of hard drive space...and typically don't work after a day or two... just make sure your computer boots before you click that box as you can only restore ONE point.

Once you do that, if you haven't, I suggest a Defrag and get rid of crap software that you don't use. Also, double click on My Computer and Right mouse button click C Drive and make sure it's not too much over 1/2 full..... If it is, you really have no option but to take off some software..... I'd try Disk Cleanup removing the restore points first and then see what your hard drive space is.

When installing programs many of them put themselves in your start up menu, which allows them to run even if you are not using them in the background. First try to check the settings to the programs you see near the time on the task bar and disable them from startup. Then Try www.winpatrol.com. Download the free Scotty the watchdog. This will allow you to remove startup programs and let you know if a program is trying to install into your startup. It will also let you see what is running in the background. Just make sure to only disable the programs from the startup because some of them may be necassary for the computer to run properly or to get on the internet, so you may need to re-enable some of them if things start not to work. What I do is do a search on google on the startup programs to make sure it isn't something important.

There could be several reasons behind it. If you've tried those things, it could be spyware slowing it down, which currently I would say is the best place to start. Secondly if you're harddrive is near full, it can cause the computer to function slower or if the drive is heavily fragmented. That would be the first three places I would check.

My best guess is you have spyware on your machine. Go grab a spyware cleaner, such as "AdAware". You can find it at http://www.lavasoft.de

Download and update that. Then run it. Then reboot your machine after you've run it and removed all the spyware. If you think you might be the victim of a virus, then go grab a virus cleaner such as Avast Antivirus(http://www.avast.com), or AVG Antivirus (http://www.grisoft.com)
