Botanically it is a squash fruit, but in regards to cooking it is treated as if it were a vegetable. The same goes for its close relative, the zucchini (courgette).
The term vegetable is culinary, and is all to do with how it is used by chefs and is nothing to do with scientific classification.
Confusingly, there are two uses of the term "fruit". The first is the scientific botanic use, which relates to what it *is*. The second is the culinary term, which is how it is eaten.

It is a fruit , it has pulp seeds and its sweet.I always get my pumkins from a patch and they tell me!Ill tell you if any veggies are related to pumpkins.

Both are good for you, each fruit/vegetable has different vitamins. Thus as more variety, as better. Vegetables have generally less sugar than fruits.
