Dogs and cats have different nutritional requirements. The food is specifically formulated for either dogs or cats. Cat food is higher in protein. Consistently feeding your dog cat food can be bad for your dog's kidneys. Consistently feeding your cat dog food may not provide your cat with the protein it needs to be healthy.

Although one is formulated for dogs and the other for cats based on their nutritional needs the ingredients are much the same. The mixed gourmet types and usually made out of stuff you would not eat.

IAMS is a really good food for both cats and dogs. IAMS gives them all the nutrition they need.
