how pregnant are you? If you have stopped all use of drugs and alcoholc, you won't really have a chance of them taking your baby, and I'm glad you made that choice. Your baby could have so many problems had you continued on that path, so I'm glad you did the right thing

Because your test came back positive your Dr. is obligated to report the findings to the child protective services.. (just like a Dr. is obligated to report symptoms consistant with child abuse)... Child protective services will probably place you on a random drug testing cycle to prove that you are indeed drug free, you will probably be ordered to take parenting and anti drug classes...
If a urine test was done to determine you tested positive you have injested Marijuana within the last month prior to the time you took the test......
http://www.marijuanahydro.com/drugtesting.html
While you may have stopped child protective services will do the random testing to determine you stay stopped for an appropriate amount of time..
Now is the time to stop whining about what you can do... It's very clear stay off drugs or risk losing your child.. It's pretty simple, talk is cheap and you can say all you want that you stopped and will never do it again but the proof is in the pudding prove it by passing further drug tests...

I don't think they will take your baby away, hun. It's good that you stopped, it's not good for an unborn baby (or one that's been born for that matter) If anything was wrong with your baby (God forbid! I'm sure your baby is perfect and healthy and ever-so beautiful!) you would only blame yourself. Usually when that happens, they classify your birth as high-risk and will force you to birth at the hospital (instead of a birthing center, or a home birth). Now that it came up positive, they will continue testing you. As long as each new test has less THC in it, you should be fine (that's how it works with probation!) But don't be afraid to voice your concerns. You have every right to discuss this with your health care provider. I didn't smoke trees when I was pregnant (although I certainly did before!), but I know many women who utilized it for their morning sickness (some at the suggestion of midwives!-not hospital affiliated midwives of course). Just because you smoked a little herb doesn't mean you no longer have rights. Ask your doctor. I'm sure you will feel better when you do. Good luck and congrats!
An addendum in your defense: When a pregnant woman goes to her first doctor's visit, she fills out mounds of paperwork, including a huge questionnaire. This questionnaire asks things about the mom's current *and* past. They ask if you have *EVER* smoked marijuana. If you answer yes, they are required by hospital standards to drug test you. simply to determine if the delivery is high risk. It's to cover their behinds. This most likely why Vanessa was tested. I lied on mine, because I knew. I didn't put any substances in my body that I shouldn't have during my pregnancy. I just didn't think it was any of their business that I partook in sinsemilla before conception.

If you stopped smoking or using before you became pregnant, or as soon as you found out, things should be ok. However, if you have used anything in the last two weeks and have an appointment, it can still show up. If you have stopped, my advice is you use the time before the baby to stay clean and get a good support system in place (support group, therapy, AA, etc.) so when the stress of a newborn comes along, you will have the help you need to stay clean.

I know a girl who had that happen. They can't take it away unless after you have had the baby and they test it and that comes back positive. Her 2mth. old was taken away when they did a test on her and it showed weed in her system. Stop now and you shouldn't have a problem. Especially if you really care about you're baby. She was breastfeeding and that was how the baby had it in her system. Just don't be stupid!

well its good that you stopped, because they can and will take away your baby. Although, the supreme court passed a law in the 4th circuit that pregnant women cannot be drug tested from a urine sample without giving consent. i am also closely acquainted with a few females who smoked weed their whole term, and their babies came out fine perfectly normal. Don't take this as a justifiable reason to continue smoking though....just take the advice " Relax, Don't worry, and enjoy your pregnancy"

sorry to say but if you came back dirty then most likely they will take your baby at the hospital they will test your baby if it is dirty then say bye to your child and i hope that you get him or her back but only if you will never touch it again and i hope that you will pick your child over the drugs do you know that doing drugs while you are pregnant will not only give your baby a possiblility of having a birth defect but have you ever watched a baby born addicted to drug the withdrawl alone can kill it it is so sad sometimes just to keep the baby alive they have no other choice but to give the baby the drug just so it can survive if you were any kind of good mother or even a decent person you would never touch that drug again

Well chances are you may be monitored after you had your baby. Taking a drug like that is basically considered abuse and neglect. The hospital/doctor had to report it and it's going to be up to them if they take your child away. That is really sad that you would do something like that and then worry about them taking your baby away. People that do something like that...should have their babies taken away. It's sad that people that would take care of themselves and their baby can't have them and then there are people like you that do have kids. Stay straight and take care of your baby the right way.

so you didn't care about yourself or your child when you wanted to get high, but now that you have to face the reprecussions your now scared... what happened if you drank alcohol and your child was diagnosed with FAS/FAD and had to live with it there whole life? how would that make you feel? maybe, you should face the music, if they take your child away that's cause it showed that you couldn't even take care of yourself while pregnate, let alone a child. Good luck.

I don't think they will do anything if you have stopped.I think they really do something if you come back positive more then once and if it is a more so called harder stronger drug. I know when I was pregant with my 10 month old daughter I came back positive for meth once and they did test me through out my whole pregancy but they did not do anything sence I had quite and it only happened once.
