Painters: Monet is good (Impressionist), Georgia O'Keefe. Otherwise, if you're looking for someone who is less mainstream than the artists you mentioned, you might look into the surrealists. (Think melting clocks) Salvador Dali is good, or Magritte.

Sculpture: Rodin (the thinker)

Photography: Ansel Adams

Just some suggestions, but there should be more than enough about these artists for you to research.

Living or dead? Living - Everette Raymond Kinstler is a very famous portrait artist who does portraits of the U.S presidents and many other notable people such as judges and so forth. Another one is Thomas Kinkade who is considered the master of light. Christian Lassen is a painter of marine life. He has done many works even for the United Nations. Dead - Ofcourse everyone thinks of Leonardo DaVinci, but there is someone who has passed away as far as I know. His name was Andrew Loomis. If you could find some information about him and put together a report you might get an 'A'. Most artists that are alive today should know about Loomis and have found his books to be a great help. Have Fun!

Jean Michael Basquiat; Alberto Giacometti; Willem DeKooning; Eva Hesse; Edward Weston; Alfred Stieglitz; Henry Moore; Amedeo Modigliani; Duane Hanson; Chuck Close; Gustav Klimt; Edvard Munch; Paul Gauguin; Albrecht Durer; Hieronymus Bosch; Edouard Manet.

These are just a few off the top of my head that others may or may not have thought of. Besides the usual ones such as Picasso, Monet, and the others that you mentioned.

There are so many artists and so many styles to choose from. Find one that speaks to you. That you can connect with in whatever medium you choose. You will find that the report will be much easier to write if you also enjoy what it is that you are writing about.

Enjoy....and I hope this helps!!

If you could do one on a comic artist, try Michael Turner. He's fastly becoming one of the popular comic artists today.

I think some interesting highlights of his life were battling cancer, lawsuits over characters and eventually starting his own comic book studio. He's still alive and kicking and making real good work for Marvel and DC.

The link under is his studio's website.

Frida Kahlo. Extremely interesting work and eccentric personality, would be very easy to fill up a report with her work. Plus the movie is really good, only Salma Hayek can be sexy with a unibrow.
