if you go to the Statue of Liberty, take the U.N. Tour, or take The Wall Street Tour you will be eating up at least 1/2 day. do them when have more time!
DO NOT take the boat tour around Manhatten. takes to much time and boring!
there are moderate priced hotels in The City. I recommend you go to either Fodor's at the bookstore or go on line to Newyorkcityhotels.com for information on where to stay.
do not walk the streets at night.
if you go to a play or a ballgame stay in front of the entrance to flag a cab down. do not walk away from that area. do not walk around in the Time Square area.
do not give money to the bag lady's or they will converge on you.
i don't mean to frighten you but those are just safe precautions.
when leaving a restaurant stay in front of the entrance so a cab will pick you up. do not wander away from the front entrance.
take very warm clothes especially a heavy coat or jacket.
if you go to a nice restaurant your fiance to be might need to wear a jacket. he should take one irregardless!

purchase any show, sports, or t.v. tickets way in advance at least 30 days!!! make sure your restaurant reservations are madeat least 2 to 3 weeks in advance!!!

have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Roosevelt Hotel, I think its on Lexington Avenue, is really nice, a 1920's (style?) hotel with tons of character! This would be a really nice hotel to spend time in after getting engaged!

There are tons of fun things to do in NYC. You can go to the bookstore and pick up a tour book about NY, it will be worthwhile. Find one with maps, subway maps too and some guides rate places, resturants and bars and so on, and give them stars and tell you if they are expensive or more affordable. But I would recommend getting a guide book.

Have fun!

Well, a few hotels include the Crowne Plaza. It's right inside Time's square (really nice place). A little more pricy hotel is the Plaza.

when i went to NY, we didn't have enough money to stay at a hotel. we had to sleep in the streets. JK we had to stay at a hotel motel thing in New Jersey. you also might not be able to book a place in time for Christmas in NY. good luck with your engagement and God bless you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
