My adult male cat, Rocko, LOVES to lay at the foot of my bed under the covers. I have just started noticing these tiny things that is where he lays. They look like little bity kernals of some type...I mean little. They do not appear to be living things (i.e. fleas, ticks, or larvae). At the end of the day I look on my sheets and there are about 20-30 of these things.??? PLEASE HELP

yes, they do appear to be tiny grains of rice. I will be taking him to the vet tomorrow. What causes tapeworms?

It sounds like tapeworm segments. You need to go to your vet and pick up some tapeworm meds for him.

What type of flea preventative is he on? Even an indoor only cat can have fleas. Fleas hitch rides on peoples clothes & shoes as do the eggs. They can be tracked around anywhere. Tapeworms mainly come from fleas although they also come from eating, mice, moles, rats, etc.

You don't necassarily have to see the fleas for fleas to be present. Fleas don't live on the pet 24/7 they only get on to feed and lay eggs and then leave returning only to feed again. Your cat doesn't have to be infested with fleas in order to pick up tapeworms from fleas. It only takes the ingestion of one or two infected fleas for tapeworm infestation to occur.

Rocko has tapeworms. They grow in the intestines and crawl out of the cat's rectum. They're smaller than a grain of rice and look like maggots, but quickly dry out and shrink to tiny ivory-colored specks such as you described. There are a number of remedys available at stores like PetCo, PetSmart, etc, or you may want to take him to the vet for a check-up and a prescription treatment.

Get a $17 bottle of Rescue Remedy from a health foods store. You shake the bottle really well and put three to four drops of it on the cat's fur between his ears. Do this three or four times a day for the next ten days. If he is under the bed simply put the drops on a small cloth and put it under the bed with him. Refresh the cloth three or four times day or get the drops on his fur. It is for emotional healing and will help him overcome his fears of his new surroundings and people who are strange to him.He has had quite a bit of upset in the last few months of his life. It cannot harm him in any way. Make sure the girls are quiet and soft-spoken around him and he will warm up very well.

flea dirst is little dark brown or brownish red in color and looks like a fine comma. What you are describing is a sure fire sympton of tapeworm and you can get medication from the vet to get rid of it. Also, there is an over-the-counter tapeworm eradicator available at PetMeds.com that will do the trick.

If they're whitish or yellowish and look like grains of rice, your cat has a tapeworm. You need to take him to the vet and get him some medicine; there's a shot the vet can give your cat, or a pill you can give him. Don't put this off!

Your kittie has worms from fleas. Take him to the vet ASAP for medicine to get rid of the worms. This isn't to uncommon so don't worry. Get him some Advantage or something to keep the fleas off of him. Good luck

Cats usually get tapeworms by eating fleas.

You didn't descrbe them too well so I'm not sure....Did they look like grains of rice ? If so, they are tapeworms and are not good. You would need special pills for your cat so you have to take her to the vet. They will not go away on their own.

Sounds like tape worm segments. They die off quickly after falling off. Lift his tail and see if you see any stuck to the fur around his anus. And check his poop for segments, they look like a grain of rice. If he has tapeworms you can get a pill from the vet to give him
