Personally I don't see how either are neccessarily evil any more than eating when you're hungry is. Evil only comes from overindulgence Isn't it just human to have sexual desires? Just wondering why some people consider these acts to be evil

That is an amazing question and no one here seems to even come close to answering it. They're all looking at it from a specific Judeo-Christian perspective, however both have been condemned at various times throughout history by various groups. They have also been celebrated by many groups.

I don't have an answer, though. I have my suspicions, though. All of human history is about one group dominating another and sex is one magnificent form of control. Or, maybe it is the fact that semen has been considered by many cultures to be the seat of a man's strength (on a side note, the ancient Jews did not believe this; they thought children came entirely from women; the story of Onan, which is erroneously believed to be a condemnation of masturbation, is actually about the pull-out method). Perhaps those cultures which condemned homosexuality were so engrained with a patriarchal belief that anyone who acted like a woman should be considered weak (though, the counterpoint would be ancient Greece).

In any case, a wonderful question.

well the Bible and all world religions pretty much condemn these all the same. They were also founded thousands of years ago. Its only even in the last 20 yrs that homosexulity and masturbation are mainstream.
I think the homosexuality thing is becuase its not the way nature intended it, as for masturbation? I dont know......am Christian myself and have never really heard that particular belief...never been taught it. So I assume that although this is Christianitys' official stance, it obviously is not taught now. The homosexual side of things has to be at least voluntary, as in you will voluntarily turn from it, and similar to muslims wearing the veil, because how would any gay people be saved at all if that was the case? I dont believe that is the nature of a God I want to worship. Also did you know there is a gay Christian movement who are happy to be gay??

I dont evaluate you a hater for pondering homosexuality a sin. Nor do i think of that being gay is genetic... notwithstanding it quite is a sexual decision. each physique is made that way. under pressure out that way. it quite is their way... it quite is not their decision, it is barely what they're. i think of notwithstanding that if it became any such large deal, then Jesus might have pronounced greater approximately it. It easily wasnt a closed subject while he walked the planet by way of fact the Romans and Greeks on the time have been an exceedingly promiscuous custom. I as a result quesiton the justifications of the church homes of immediately.. ... particular.. people who've guided you to style an opinion which you think approximately homosexuality to be a sin. it may be hateful to foist your opinion on homosexuals on condition that it is what they're.. no longer by decision, yet in view that's what they're. i'm so happy you're no longer a hateful individual.

We were made to bring forth our kind from the beginning...it is in our make up.
Men have a penis women have a vagina they fit together well. So homosexuality is not natural, women with women, men with men.
Masturbation on the other hand is not a sin only when you over do it, When a man or woman needs attention in the area of sex and the other party is not available and rather seek the opposite sex prostitution, you may have sex with yourself. Don't make it a habit. If you are married it's alright to have fun mutual masturbation with your mate. a change of loving.

I don't believe sex is a sin!
I believe coldness of heart, meanness of heart, a heart of hate is a sin.
I believe if you have sex in order to hurt or harm others if the act is of no love at all, no caring, helping, reaching out of no honesty or feelings it is a bit sinful because your heart is not true.

Acts of evil I believe are murder, rape, torture things like that are sin ...... what I was raised to believe.....over the years I have become spiritual and not religious..........a huge difference.
And comforting too although spiritual holds me accountable more so then the fear of which I was taught in Religion.

a more accurate parallel to eating might be eating that which is bad and masturbation is not exactly correct use of the equipment as per directions but I definitely wouldn't react with
malice and overly zealously place it in the terrible sin category.
I think of it as just less than ideal or less than desirable to
pervert these things . Go back to normality of purpose and spirit!

If acts that cannot be for procreation are a sin, then I will sin until I die because I can no longer have children. Yet I want sex and orgasms and will not stop having either. I overindulge, too. Who is it hurting?

God made Adam and then gave him Eve. Sex is a gift from God to the married couple. I dont recall God handing Adam some lube and a papertowel. As for homosexuality is spoken about in the bible as being sinful. Man is not to lie with man as he lies with a woman

Well, they're two different issues. Concerning the latter, there's a verse in the OT condemning man for "sowing his seed upon the ground." However, to sow his seed is man's nature and sow he must.
