Its really the only sit down meal anymore in the modern times it seems to me. Its so hard for my family to come and so I make it easy for them, and its kinda hard for me. No problem really. Its worth it to see the whole family under one roof.

I cook every thanksgiving.. most of the family lives on
the same road...don't invite anyone..they just seem to wind
up down there....they smell it I GUESS.., OR HABIT... it's
happened now for 22yrs...... and I enjoy cooking it, talking,
cleaning, and just seeing everyone.....the same thing happens
at x-mas....... wouldn't trade it for anything.....

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. To ease all the work I start way early, making things ahead of time. you can freeze lots of things, I make or buy pies ahead of time, I even make potatoes a day ahead so I can enjoy my family.
Even if I visit, I bring food along and help in the kitchen.
And now with my Mr. Right being a avid hunter, I'm alone at Thanksgiving so I travel to my Mom's, maybe even a day early to help her out.

i love it i do all the cooking and baking and serve about 30 guests it is hard work and what a mess but i love to have most of my family here to share this holiday with

You only have one family. Even though they tick me off, I love seeing them all together, even if we are only happy for five minutes.
