Is the blood bright red or dark? If its bright red, you might be constipated and have hemorrhoids which are caused by constipated strain. Eat lots of yoghert with live cultures, magnesium and zinc, fiber (such as fresh green vegetables and whole wheat breads) and a lot less meat, sugar and processed foods. Wash your rectum very well when in the shower and maybe use Preparation H. Hemorrhoids itch, swell and bleed. They come from too much strain when using the bathroom. Ease up on the strain and drink lots of water and eat fresh vegetables. This is if its bright red blood.
If you have dark almost black/red blood, time to see a doctor for sure.

Is the blood bright red? the itching and the bright red blood and the straining to have a bowel movement could mean you have hemorrhoids- no big deal but painful. However, the bad stomach pains could be something more and you should see your doctor. If the pain on a scale of 1 to 10 is closer to a 10 for you, you should go to the ER tonite- they could run a few tests and its better to be safe than sorry especially since it's going on for 3 weeks. For hemorrhoids, there is preparation H that you can apply to the area it stops the itching and bleeding. Good luck

You might have hemorrhoids. Call a doctor in the morning. In the mean time get your self some hemorrhoid cream and a stool softner. Drink plenty of water and increase your fiber. Call your doctor office in the morning.

I work in an intensive care unit, and blood in the stool is one of the things I,as a nursing assistant, would notify the nurse immediately. It could indicate a gastrointestinal bleed. My best suggestion would go to the ER with a detailed history (write it all down) and a sample. I know it sounds gross, otherwise they'll get their sample one way or another.....(hear the snap of gloves...)

Do yourself a favour and get yourself off to the doctors,it could be something simple like hemorrhoids or something more sinister, either way let a doctor have a look.

Well, this isn't the place to look for medical advice. You should really see a doctor if you are looking for medical advice.

When in doubt, get yourself to the E.R.! At least you'll have peace of mind if nothing really is wrong.
