Some contend that one ton of asphalt is 12 cubic feet. Hmmm

I won't pay unless my asphalt is laid to at least 130#/cubic foot. I won't pay extra to try to compact asphalt to more than 130#/cubic foot.

Calc out the volume in cubic feet. ?/?(1' x 6' x 0.25')?/? and multiply the volume times the price per unit volume. I would use a constucted compaction of 135#/ft^3. Get the cost per ton laid, and viola, you have it.

That is it.
