if you have a clock that ticks loudly, put it down with the puppy. it sounds a little nutty, but it worked for my dog when she was a pup. it is supposed to simulate the heartbeat of the puppys mother or something. i think.

puppies are enough to drive you crazy!! I am sleep deprived right now cos of our jack russell pup that gets up each morning at 5.15 a.m. ahhh!
I agree with the ones that say you need to play with him/her to excess.......tug rope, balls, ruff stuff, whatever he likes. Walking if its allowed out in the big wide world.
Have it sleep with you if you want this for the rest of the dogs life. Some people don't mind. Mostly you need to perservere with whatever plan you decide on and stick to the plan, don't change and give in or the pup will know you are an easy touch. We had to go through a couple of trying nights before she settled down at night, but she still gets up way early.

With just raising two yellow labs myself, I learned it's not best to sleep with them just yet, that will come as he gets older, but I found the best way to get a puppy to sleep at night is to play with him before it's bed time so he's tired out, put him out to do his duty and when you bring him back in, dim the lights and tell him it's time for nite nite. Do this each and every night, puppies are a creature of habit and as soon as you dim the lights he will go and lay down for the night. I sure hope this works for you, it worked very well with our two labs and still does. Good Luck

Alot of exercises and a full belly, he should go to sleep. But small puppies wake up and whine because they are missing their mom and litter mates. This will go away after a couple of weeks. You might want to try to put some kind of stuffed animal that he can snuggle with at night, to make him think he has company and is not alone. I promise it will pass. Be patient, he is just a baby.

I don't have that problem with my puppy when he first came he slept in my room for 2 days but i couldn't sleep because he got up and made noise so now he sleeps in the living room in his bed what u can do is place your puppy in it's bed and turn off the light, u can also tie him with a leash beside his bed with the light off so he can fall asleep if not then i don't know

Put your pet in a kennel cab and place it in another area of the house, perhaps the bath room, and shut the door.He may cry for a while to get his way,but will finally go to sleep. If you remove him because he is crying then he knows all he has to do is cry and you will let him have his way.You and your pup will finally get some sleep.

Try a radio or a clock that ticks. The clock works because it reminds him of his mom's heart beat. If you don't mind the puppy sleeping with you go for it. Besides he will keep you warm on cold nights.

Sounds like he's got too much energy. You need to help him get rid of some of it....take him for a walk before bed time. Bring him home, feed him, take him back out to relieve himself half an hour after he eats and then tuck him in for the night.

My dad raised dogs when I was young and he always put a electric clock beside the puppies,Know your going to ask why! The answer is the ticking sounds like the heart beat of there mother.I'm not sure why it resembles it,but it always worked.
It never hurts to try new ideas.
good luck

Just when you want to go to bed put on the T.V. are put the dog in it's cage and then put the radio on. Thats what my friend did and her dog sleeps great and my does too. Try it, it really works and you don't need to sleep in bed with your dog.
