We're also going to be slowly pulling troops out as Iraqi people start taking over control of security for parts of the country. And more pressure has been put on the Iraqi leaders to prepare more for taking control back.
EDIT: This war is nothing like Vietnam. This time, there was Congress support, a total volunteer army, in comparison to other conflicts, very low military casualties. Vietnam conflict had none of these things. Name one tangible way these wars are similar.

we cannot win...we can only stay there and aid the development of their new country.... we may end up being there for the next 50+ years in attempt to keep the insurgents from reclaiming Iraq and continuing in a non-democratic rule. Great Britain is of no importance in man power or the dynamics of the day-to-day.... but instead it is important in the way the world will view the U.S.... as of now, we have 1 strong ally, GB, and when they pull out the world will further view this war as a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein for President GWB and one in which we bypassed the UN.

Don't fret.
We have the ability and capacity, no matter what the subversive defeatist left and their press says, to CRUSH Al Sadar, Assad the Syrian, and The Iranian Hitler all in one fell swoop.
The only way we can be defeated is if the Libs get their way.
Edit: for some reason Bush is afraid of the libs going nuts if put the kibosh on the Madi Army.
Believe me, this "war" could and should have ended a year after we got there. Vietnam ended the way it did because of the "Case-Church" amendment. Nixon was letting our boys kick ***, then lefty politics got in the way--------just like today.
Don't believe everything Wolfie Blitzer brays................he's an operative..........Fox is only slightly better.............but the main factor is both parties are allowing this shite to drag on when it could've ended yesterday

GB is taking over NATO command in Afghanistan next year. The troop commitment will shift to Afghanistan from Iraq.
With Iraq's commitment to take over their own security over the next 18 months the British commitment in Iraq will be less crucial, especially as they are reinforcing their commitment to the other front of the war on terror.

Well first off, it isn't about us winning, it's about establishing a new government, which is not happening at all.
I haven't heard the story yet of Brittan pulling out, and well, I only hope that knocks some well deserved sense into Bush and we pull out too...this is just getting too ridiculous. I support our troops, my husband in what he does, but I DO NOT SUPPORT this "so calle" war.

Trust me, its just more of the same with these people. they tell one thing and do another. Before it was, we will not cut and run. now that it is close to election. It's, just give us a year. wait till after nov 7th and it will change.

I think they realize what a mistake it was to listen to Bush in the first place. We can not win their civil war, only they can.
