Ive been to a couple of different optometrists over the years. My old one said I was a good candidate for lasik, the new guy says with my "base curve" (of 8.5) I might not have enough corneal tissue... Does anyone know if thats true? My contact rx by the way is -5.25 in both eyes.

Go to an ophthalmologist for LASIK and get your eyes examined. Consultations to see if you are a candidate for LASIK are usually free with no obligation to have the surgery. There are some optometrists that tell their patients they are not candidates for LASIK so they don't lose out on patients/customers. I've heard that from quite a few patients at the center I work for.

ask if they can use a old laser where they just slice your cornea fold it back out of the the way fire the laser directly to the retina. i dont know the technical terms but i do know depending on where you go they always try to get you to use the newest laser they have. the old ones are just as good my boyfriend has 20 20 vision now and it has been 1 year.

Try checking along with your general practitioner. I idea I was once a well candidate, however considering the fact that my eyes worsen every yr they mentioned its now not well for me. So in case your imaginative and prescient is typically now not going to difference, you can be.

That could be true. What your doctor means is that your cornea is to thin so it can't handle the laser.
