I won't waste time describing religions...there are soo many out there. But I will describe a relationship! With the one true and living God! Jesus came down 2000 years ago to die for you and for me so that we wouldn't have to pay for our sins. He loved us that much! Imagine someone willing to DIE for you?? And the greatest thing is that, the bible tells us He is now alive! All you have to do is believe in him, and you will be saved, and can ENJOY a relationship with the living God for the rest of your life here on earth, and then eternity! Its a free gift. It doesn't matter what you have done, or what you will do, Jesus has already paid the penalty for everything. All you need to do is ask him to forgive you, and to become the Lord of your life, and you will be saved. God bless you....if you get to know Jesus, you won't need to be scared of dying.

Just believing in god and an afterlife gives you a broad range of possiblities. If you are a christian, then you have quite a few denominations to look through, but they are mostly the same.
If you aren't christian, you should try looking into eastern asian religions like Shinto, Taoism, Buddhism, Hinduism. There are also many pagan religions and the Baha'i faith with incorporates many of the world major religions into one.
Deism is based on the logical belief that god exists.
Pantheism is based on the belief that god is everything and everything is god. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/pantheism .
Paganism is a grouping for any religion that worships nature of the earth and is becoming quite popular.
If you need anything else feel free to email me. I will help however I can. I was in your position when I was 14. I wish yahoo answers was around then. Wikipedia can be a great introduction to different religions. http://www.beliefnet.com is also a good source if you choose one of the more mainstream religions.
Whatever you decide, do not let fear decide for you. You've got a long time left and plenty of time to decide. Good luck Mae.

I, myself, don't have a religion anymore, I used to be Catholic, but now i follow no religion. I believe that here and now is heaven/god. If you are looking for answers here are a few sources that helped me. Two movies: What The Bleep Do We Know? (their's a lot of quantum physics in it but if you can watch it a few times you may get some useful info out of it), The Secret (dvd can only be bought from the website thesecret.tv - same message as WTBDWK, but in laymans terms) - - - google Ramtha - she is a "teacher" , she appears in WTBDWK, I like what she has to say. Also, study The Law of Attraction - I am new to it but I find it to be a wonderful thing that really works. Good Luck and remember, all is well.

You don't have to decide on a religion at all. You can have your personal relationship with God instead of having going through a specific set of lifestyle
Religion especially revealed religion instills a lot of fears, it sounds as if that religion is influencing your fears to an extreme. In this case, you might also want to step back and enjoy the world that you are in. It will be better for your health to try to relax. You are still young and have a lot more years left so enjoy your teen years as much as possible. I regret not enjoying them.
Good luck in your decision but also realize the possibility of not having a religion.

you should never fear death if your life is right with god. religion is the same as politics to me. their is a difference in being religious and searching for, finding and serving God. No religion can get you to heaven....Only finding out who God is,and serving him the best you know how. May i make a suggestion? Just close your eyes and talk to the higher power and tell him the truth ...God I dont know anything about you but if you show me the right way I am willing to learn, please come into my heart and lead my feet in the right direction..and then all you have to do from there is just think about God and ask him everyday to show you more of who he is and be receptive to learn his ways. He will lead you if you let him.and just so you know ... all the things you believe ..i too believe about being born again and that their is a heaven. regardless of the dispute on how heaven is or isnt most agree that their is a heaven. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS

All you can do is read. Have faith that the God of your salvation loves you. He will answer you, in His own time, when your heart is ready. Dont get into cultist societies like Mormonism or Jehovah's witnesses, or even Christian Scientist or seventh day adventist. when there is a separate society watching your relationship with God, that is not of God. Your relationship with Him is your own, and that is what He would have for us all. Read the Bible. that is all I can tell you. where to find a church to be edified and brought up is somewhere God will lead you. Just be careful to follow His word and no one elses. Oh and ps, dont ever be afraid of dying if you believe in Jesus. He wants you home. :) I would only be scared if I didnt have the truth and didnt know where I was going. Hope that helps, God bless:)

You shouldn't pick a religion the way you chose a plumber ...like flipping through the yellow pages. You need to go to different churches etc., talk to people of different faiths and decide which one has the same beliefs and doctrines that you do. You should put allot of thought into it. Don't rush yourself. Read the bible and see how you feel about what it says. Don't feel like you have to have a name behind what you believe. There are non-denominational churches. I go to one. We base our beliefs on the bible and that is it. It ends there. Nothing man has made up along the way..like rituals and traditions. I like it that way. But that doesn't mean it is necessarily for you, just me.

I take you mean a Christian denomination after what you said about being born again (reborn).
Take your time and check out what they teach, if they don't teach the same as the Bible then don't join. This does not mean you have to agree on every little thing they believe or you might not find one. Most of all pray that God will lead you to one. I personal am a Southern Baptist.

Okey, just slow down, be calm and be cool. No need to panic. You are just 14 and a long way to go.
first, don't hurry up on the part of religion. Since you believe in God. Pray first, ask for His guidance and blessing. Read the Bible, concentrate on the New Testament first. Old might confuse you.. Seek the guidance of your parents, family or relatives.
Just pray for now and surely God will send a messenger for you.
God hear those who seek Him and His rigthteousness.
Be a good boy for now.

Sounds like you are seeking Truth. 1 Tim 3:15 says the the Church is the pillar and foundation of Truth.
Here is a simple to read and understand document to read to help you understand what is offered and expected of the Faithful:
http://www.vatican.va/archive/catechism/p1s1c2a1.htm
Depending on how bad "bad" is, you might want to check out this CD. It's about a guy who was on the fast track to nowhere (or, almost a Japanese mafia gang), but did find his faith and now shepards others.
