I dye my hair black and it usually fades within 2 weeks, even though the dye is permanent. Is it because my hair is naturally red?

the texture of every person's hair reacts to dye differently. some people will only have to dye it every 6 months while someone else may have to do it every month. it just depends on how your hair carries the dye =\

but i wouldnt suggest re-dying your hair every 2 weeks, it'll get really damaged, especially when youre using the permanent-type dye, it says on the box that you should only do it every 4 weeks or so, all those chemicals in your hair can really take a toll on your hair. if your hair really wont let the dye stay in, maybe try using a dye that is meant for short term use, because if the color is going to fade anyway you might as well use a dye that is meant to be used frequently.

i like the loreal color pulse dyes myself, there's one in black that stayed for a good few weeks for me. good luck! =]

dye is only a pigment that is put into your hair chemically, so if you rinse your hair w/cool water and use an organic shampoo your hair color will stay longer, it's the stuff that you buy at grocery store or even a salon, the chemicals that are used in the shampoo that strip the color out of your hair, natural shampoo doesn't do that, it gently cleanses your hair. Good luck!

Try using Artec colorist collection shampoo. ONYX is the color for black. Also try to use the Kiwi shampoo to alternate with and use before the ONYX. This company was bought from L'Oreal professional which is only sold in salons. This is a color enhancement shampoo the helps your color stay longer by depositing color in the shampoo. This works well with any color line. This shouldn't be used everyday. Only when your color starts fading or looking dull. Hope that helps

If you recently used the dye then try washing your hair with liquid laundry soap. Then use a deep conditioner. You aren't going to be able to get rid of any color without stripping your hair at least a little. Even dyeing your hair a more natural color is going to stress out your hair.

probably because your shampoo has sulfate in it. sulfate is too harsh for dyed hair. also a little bit of fading is going to occur no matter what. cheap hair dye fades pretty fast
