Young, old, patriotic folk who want to serve... who do you think? I think sometimes that "Starship Troopers" had the right idea: service = citizenship.

I tried to sign back up after 9/11... sadly at 42 they said I was just too old to start over. I'm an former Navy E-7, and the Army recruiter sure looked for waivers though.

I HOPE though, that Congress will reward those who HAVE signed up and served in theater with alittle bonus above and beyond. Perhaps the new Democrat controlled congress will shave off $10,000 of each of their salaries to fund it ??

Or maybe we should take all those who lose in the upcoming elections and turn THEM into PFC's (along with their staff)??

Or round up all the rioters at the next WTO meeting ?

HMMM already been there. In Afghanistan currently, sorry! I can't come out and play but who knows... I would go back in a heart beat if needed.

BTW wasn't Albert Einstein one of the leading scientist in discovering and inventing the atomic bomb. .... seems weird .... "a warless world". Just vaporize your enemy, who needs war.

A small fraction of our military is in Iraq. We have millions more still in America. Our military is not dwindling. By the way, just because Einstein was a brilliant scientist, that doesn't mean he knows everything about anything. He WAS the person who discovered what happened when you split an atom.

Won't take me, I am disabled and my middle aged *** has been shot at before. But my guess is if they keep asking, sooner or later they are going to have to bring back the draft. Still over half a million troops at peak could not hold 'Nam quiet. I doubt two million with the present tactics could hold Iraq down.

The Army has recruited over 80,000 in the year 2006 and have met the goal they set for the year. The other services have met their goals as well.
