No. You exhibit examples of faith every moment you walk down the sidewalk (and have faith that it will support you) or sit in a chair or drive down the road in your car...

Faith is belief with no evidence. Usually in God, but it could easily be in your abilities. Some christians try to corrupt the meaning of the word when they say that we all have faith that the Sun will come up tomorrow. Sure it may be faith to someone who is ignorant as to the reason that the sun appears to rise every morning in the East and travel across the Sky just to disappear again at night. But this 'faith' is backed up by the knowledge that everybody, including educated people also know that this will happen.
We know the star background, so it is easy to look up and see if the constellations are 'moving along' as usual, in other words that the Earth is still rotating. If the Earth is still rotating then it must eventually and 'on time' rotate enough to make the sun appear to rise from the East again.
If you don't know that then you simply have faith that it will.

I think a person has to have faith to have religion, but not the other way around. I had faith the Mets would be in the World Series and look what it got me.

Religion and Faith are two different things. If anything a person has to have faith in order to have a religion.

Do you mean follow a religion, then no, a person can have faith that God exists some call him a Greater being, faith means believing without seeing this is what we do when we believe that Jesus is our Savior doing away with the old ways of sacrificing animals for the redemption of sins.

Religions were formed when the apostles were proclaiming the good news of God's kingdom, people were saying I am from Paul meaning they learned from Paul, but this was wrong, in doing so they lost the true meaning of the message which is salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, for He alone can save all of mankind. Jesus repeated often what was written and recorded as promises from His father to humans, and God's chosen peoples, but Jesus knew that His sacrifice would enable all of humankind to be saved through Him.

I'd rather think of a person of faith as being spiritual, as this person is more apt to seek the truth for themselves instead of following doctrines adapted and policies imposed by different sects and religions. Peace be with you.

I have no religion and plenty of faith. Faith is believing in something. You have to believe in something to have faith, but you dont have to have a religion. Christians will tell you otherwise, but in your own heart, if you know someone loves you, you have faith in that. Its all power of the heart. You can believe in God without having a religion. I do all the time, Do what your heart tells you and that is what faith is.

Have faith in what then? Faith in the fact that the sun will come up tomorrow? If you mean faith in Jesus, I would say that they would have to have "religion". You can believe in God without religion, but faith is another issue.

To many, “faith” simply means having a religious belief or following a form of worship. As used in the Bible, however, “faith” basically means total trust—complete, unshakable confidence in God and his promises. It is a quality that marks a disciple of Jesus Christ.

On one occasion, Jesus Christ spoke about the need to pray and “not to give up.” In so doing, he raised a question about whether true faith would exist at all in our day. He asked: “When the Son of man arrives, will he really find this faith on the earth?” Why did he raise such a question?—Luke 18:1, 8,

Many things can cause people to lose what faith they may have. Among them are the traumas and trials of everyday life.

Sometimes faith just withers away. That was what happened in the case of writer and broadcaster Ludovic Kennedy. He says that from childhood his “doubts and uncertainties [about God] went to and fro and [his] disbeliefs grew.” No one, it seems, could give him reasonable answers to his questions. His father’s death at sea was a serious blow to what was already a very weak faith. Prayers to God to “preserve us from the dangers of the sea and from the violence of the enemy” went unanswered as the converted passenger liner his father was on was attacked and destroyed by German battleships during World War II.—(All in the Mind—A Farewell to God.)

Such experiences are not unusual. “Faith,” says the apostle Paul, “is not a possession of all people.” (2 Thessalonians 3:2) What do you think? Is true faith in God and in his Word still possible in an increasingly skeptical world?

No. Religion teaches the basics of faith though.

Religion is just a guide and most of the time it can also be misguided. Faith is something you believe in and as long as you believe there is God. Keep your faith. Like your faith in your family members and friends. You know they will help you in time of needs. Rite?
