The war of 1812 was started largely because of Britains practice of impressment, forcing people (Americans) into serving in their Navy where I assume they were used partly to fight the French. The Napoleonic wars were certainly a part of the larger geopolitical picture, of which the US was involved. The Brits also attempted to prevent us from trading with the French which also led to conflicts. Then there was the whole part about Britain allying with Native Americans in North America and encouraging them to attack. There were so many layers going on that it definitely makes for a fascinating topic.

Some people consider it to be, because it was a distraction to the British War effort, it really does go hand in hand with the history of the era so i would consider it to be, it was a direct result of the policies stemming from the French and British war policies.

Not really, in America it was once seen as a second war for independence. The one which finally got the British to leave us largely alone and treat us as a sovereign power. And in Great Britain, unfortunately for our ego's it was largely seen as a flea bite and a side show distraction from the real war of defeating the French.

the reason for the 1812 war was agression by the usa because they wanted to make canada part of the usa so they attacked when they thought that the british were at their weakest as they were fighting bonaparte, but were soundly beaten back,so the simple reason was greed by the usa,
