I have a friend that has one, and that cat has the sweetest personallity of any cat i have ever seen.

as far as dogs,

most allergies are from the dander of the pet. check out these sites to help you decide what would be best from you.

good luck on finding a new not so furry friend.

My girlfriend is also allergic to cats and dogs because of asthma. She found out that there are dog breeds that come from being mixed with a poodle that don't cause allergic reactions. Poodle mixes are more expensive for obvious reasons, but if you like dogs, then you should be able to get a poodle mix without the allergic side effects. My girlfriend got a Labradoodle about 6 months ago (half lab, half poodle), and she loves it. You can also get Rottweilers, Boxers, Pugs, etc...

Um...no, a Chihuahua is not a good choice for allergy sufferers, because they shed...quite a bit actually.

A good choice of dog for an allergy sufferer is a Bichon Frise, Shih-tzu, Lhasa Apso, Poodle, Chinese Crested Dog...and a few others.

There are NO dogs that will "help" with your asthma.

I don't know about chihuahuas but I have heard that poodles are very good for people with allergies. They have even began to cross breed poodles with other dogs (i.e. labradoodle, poobea, and goldendoodle). With these the dog has the characteristics of one dog but the fur of the poodle.
Check out this site for some of the poodle hybrids http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poodle_hybrids

no longer likely, a breed jointly with a chihuahua might in all risk have the comparable reaction as with the different dogs. some breeds people could nicely be no longer allergic to yet they're categorised as hypoallergenic dogs, which consists of breeds jointly with chinese language Crested, Irish Water Spaniel, Portuguese Water dogs, etc, yet in spite of this no dogs could nicely be categorised as one hundred% hypoallergenic, it is greater in all risk that the son has a diploma of sensitivity to dogs, as in the chihuahua he became uncovered to became quite sparkling and he did no longer have a reaction to this.

Some breeds of dog have hair, not fur. Those breeds are generally better for people with allergies to own because they're less likely to trigger your allergies.

I believe you may be reacting to dander. Not so much the hair. I bet you could stand being around a dog/cat that was often bathed in head and shoulders.

there are dogs which shed less and you are less allergic to. poodles are one of them. there are others, you can find out on the net which they are. I have asthma also and I have a poodle.
