Well.. If you compare the Scottish League to the English league you might start to get an idea why. Both leagues have got great supporters and a rich tradition. Scotland however does not have a winning tradition which makes it hard to attract great players.
The competition is not fierce with 2 or maybe 3 teams fighting of the top spots. The Scottish League has 12 teams while the premiership has 20 with some 2nd division teams always interesting to see. Scotland is not interesting to watch (at least in my opinion) past Celtic, Hearts, Rangers and maybe Hibs.
Less teams, less competition, less big name players, and less uncertainty means that tv broadcasters and league sponsors don't throw as much money into the Scottish League as the Premiership. Of course there is also the fact that Scotland has only 1 automatic entry into the Champions League.

O.K. First thing you must do my friend is keep the professional and the personal opinions apart.
It is your opinion that Scottish Football is rubbish and the Old Firm a joke that is not quite as important as the professional , the facts. When you compare the size of the population, the finances involved in the game compared to England for one example, you could easily answer your own question logically and not emotionally. Just look at Chelsea, for example how long did it take them to win anything and how did they achieve that?
Enough said......

Scottish football isnt crap. No it isnt great. As someone else said Rangers got to the last 16 last year, Celtic went to the UEFA cup final beating Liverpool and Blackburn on the way if you remember rightly. They were written off as well as no way will Celtic go to Anfield and win and they did.
Celtic have just played Man Utd and they were written off again with pundits saying the thought it would be 5-0. But they were ran close to 3-2. And personally i thought Celtic at least deserved a draw from that game. Then they went on to beat Benfica 3-0 who helped put Man Utd out of the group stage last year and then beat then mighty Liverpool as well.

Sky TV supposedly British, sponsor English clubs with millions of pounds. The top clubs in Scotland can't compete financialy with the lower clubs in the english premiership.
