She gets up at 6:40 a.m. and is pretty active all day. She'd stay up all night if we let her. She has been staying up til 9 for a while, and getting up at 6:40, but she is hard to get out of bed then. So we are trying to put her to bed at 8, is that a good time?

I put my kids to bed around 8 on school nights. (even though some of my kids aren't school age) I let them stay up later on weekends. My 5 year old has a hard time in the morning. We usually get up around 7:30. She's never been a morning person but my other kids don't have a problem waking up. (I guess she's a lot like I am. I hate mornings too!) I think putting her to bed by 8 or 8:30 would be a great time. At least it's worth a try.

My 3, 4, and 6 year olds get in bed at 8:30 so that they will hopefully be asleep by 9. We also get up at about 6:40. My sons have no trouble getting up, but my daughter still does, even if she goes to bed really early. Some kids just aren't morning people I guess. I think that is a very reasonable time!

I would definetly get her bed between 7:30 and 8. I have a 2 year old, 4 year old, and a 6 year old. They are up around 7:30 and take naps when they are not in school. They are definetly ready for bed by 7 or 7:30- so bed is usally around 8 (of course sometimes they are up til 10, but not on a school night). Kids need their rest- it is so important.

Is she in school or daycare? It sounds like her wake-up time is pretty exact, so I'm guessing that she has to be somewhere every morning. 9 pm seems a bit late to me, for that age.

You might try backing bedtime up by about 15 minutes each week, until you arrive at the right time. Whatever time you settle on, make sure there's a good routine, so she's able to settle down in advance. Just suit it to your own family... you might bathe her at 7, help her get her jammies on and brush her teeth, help her choose her clothes for the next day and tidy her room, then read a book with her. Then tuck her in, pray with her, and kiss her good night. Hopefully by then, she'll be sleepy.

If she's resistant about an earlier bed time, I'd consider setting the clocks ahead, so she thinks it's later!

I put my 5 year old son to bed every night at 8 o' clock sharp. He, too, gets up about 6:40 everyday to go to school.

I put both my 3 and 5 year old to bed around 8ish...sometimes it takes half an hour to fall asleep and sometimes an hour or more!

It's hard to get that constant rountine downpat when things change some days! If they get the bikes out and run around for a while they crash much earlier! For some reason they still have energy after pre-school all day!

Since it gets dark early, then 8 O'clock is a good time for a
5 yr. old especially if she has to get up for school. On week-ends
then 9 O'clock is fine. Sleeping beauty needs her beauty rest.
My daughter is 9 yrs old and I have her go to bed by 9 O'clock.
Their body needs all the rest. Thats when the growth spur starts
when they all relaxed. Oh and don't forget the growning pains.

around 8 pm. If she is too hard to get out of bed still have her start going to bed at 7 pm, that way she will fall asleep by 730 or 8
