Well, one thing I did was get involved in groups where learning skills were the focus. We practice listening skills every week and it helps you improve. Especially for visual learners. You may also want to buy a mini digital recorder and record lessons/classes, then listen to them later. Wishing you the best. P.S. Like the answers about sleep and good diet. I would also add drink plenty of water. The more healthy and rested you are, the easier it is to improve auditory skills.

One of the most neglected areas is creativity. Read 6 Thinking Hats and other creativity books. You will learn your logic/mathematical/reading skills from school, but rarely do you learn about how to think differently or be creative.

Read as many books of substance as possible (most books written in the last 100 years are not books of substance, but there are a few of them).

well reading is a good start..... read evrything, anything......
also, use your brain, even when you are doing leaisure things, like watching a movie... analyze WHY the character is doing what they are doing..... Use correct grammer...... that can improve your thought process..... Always keep your mind busy... doing whatever you like to do.. if you like numbers, try sudoku.... if you like letters, try word searches.... if you like words... try boggle, or anagrams..... puzzle your brain.... keep it challenged.
